An electrophotographic photoconductor includes: a conductive substrate; and a single-layer-type photoconductive layer that is provided on the conductive substrate and contains a binder resin, a charge generating material, a hole transporting material, and an electron transporting material, in which a volume resistivity of the photoconductive layer after wear is 5.0&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or more and 2.0&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or less when a ratio of a thickness of the photoconductive layer after wear to a thickness of the photoconductive layer before wear (the thickness of the photoconductive layer after wear/the thickness of the photoconductive layer before wear) is 0.8.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a conductive support, a charge generation layer disposed on the conductive support, and a charge transport layer disposed on the charge generation layer. The charge generation layer includes a charge generating material and a vinyl copolymer. The vinyl copolymer includes a structural unit including a chlorine atom, a structural unit including an acyloxy group, and a structural unit including two or more carboxyl groups. The proportion of the structural unit including an acyloxy group to all of the structural units is 13.4 mol % or more and 20.0 mol % or less. An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor that includes a conductive substrate, a photosensitive layer, and an inorganic surface layer arranged in that order, the inorganic surface layer containing a group 13 element and oxygen; a charging unit; an electrostatic image-forming unit; a developing unit; a transfer unit; a cleaning unit that performs cleaning by causing the cleaning blade to contact the surface of the photoreceptor; and a supply unit that supplies a fatty acid metal salt to a position where the cleaning blade in the cleaning unit contacts the photoreceptor. When the fatty acid metal salt is supplied, a portion of the surface of the photoreceptor downstream of the supply unit and upstream of the cleaning unit in a rotating direction of the photoreceptor is covered with a metal derived from the fatty acid metal salt at a coverage of about 40% or more.
