A rack guide device includes a rack guide, a blocking member, a plate spring and a holding member. The rack guide is accommodated in an accommodating portion that is formed in a housing through which a rack shaft is inserted so as to move towards or away from the rack shaft and that supports the rack shaft so that the rack shaft slides in an axial direction thereof. The blocking member is fixed to an external opening end provided on an opposite side of the accommodating portion to a side thereof that faces the rack shaft. The disc spring is interposed between the blocking member and the rack guide to bias the rack guide towards the rack shaft. The holding member holds the disc spring and is directly or indirectly held to the rack guide or the blocking member through frictional engagement.

Rack guide device and steering apparatus including same

A rack bushing supported by an annular elastic member in a housing includes a bushing body and a flange portion extending outward in a radial direction from a first axial end of the rack bushing. The flange portion is positioned at a step portion of an inner periphery of the housing. The bushing body includes a second axial slit extending from a second axial end to a middle portion in an axial direction. A gap that communicates with the second axial slit is formed between the inner periphery of the housing and an outer surface of the bushing body. A recessed groove (communication passage) of the flange portion allows a first space, disposed on a housing-end side with respect to the rack bushing in the housing, to communicate with the gap.

Steered shaft support structure

A cylindrical rack bushing is interposed between a tubular housing and a rack shaft inserted coaxially through the housing, and supports the rack shaft so that the rack shaft is slidable in an axial direction. The rack bushing has an inner periphery on which an inward protruding portion protruding toward an inner side of the rack bushing in a radial direction is formed. The inward protruding portion includes a top portion that is in sliding contact with the rack shaft in a line contact manner or a point contact manner.

Rack bushing

A pinion shaft of a steering system has a plurality of pinion teeth. A rack shaft has a stroke region in which a plurality of rack teeth that mesh with the pinion teeth is formed. The stroke region includes a center region that includes a center position of the stroke region, end regions, each of which includes an end position of the stroke region, and intermediate regions, each of which is located between the center region and one of the end regions. A pressure angle of each rack tooth included in each of the intermediate regions is smaller than a pressure angle of each rack tooth included in each of the center region and the end regions.
