A seat apparatus includes a seat cushion, a seat back associated with the seat cushion, an air vent extending from the bottom side of the cushion towards the sitting side of the cushion, and an air producing device which blows air, preferably temperature controlled air, to the air vent and to a groove facing the sitting side of the cushion. The seat apparatus is thus able to distribute air, preferably temperature controlled air, to the seated individual.

A headrest device includes a stay member having a pair of vertical supporting bars adapted to be supported on a seat back of a vehicle seat and a horizontal supporting bar connecting the pair of vertical supporting bars, and a frame member having a connecting portion rotatably mounted on the horizontal supporting bar with a friction force existing between the horizontal supporting bar and the frame member. The frame member is provided with a slit extending along the connecting portion of the frame member and having ends extending towards the connecting portion. The portion of the frame defined by the slit can be resiliently deformed in the peripheral direction of the horizontal supporting bar and serve as a fulcrum point for adjusting the strength of the rotational friction force of the connecting portion.

Head rest device

A support bar of a headrest assembly or a hand brake is provided with one or more notches or indented portions. The notches or indented portions are formed in a way that inhibits the formation of additional material portions extending outwardly from the smoothly curved outer surface of the support bar. The indented portions or notches possess a shape having continuous curvature as seen in a cross-section perpendicular to the axis of the pipe member.

A lumbar support device for adjusting the position of the portion of the seating surface of a seat back corresponding to an occupant's lumbar region includes a frame member, a plane spring body provided with linear spring elements and supported on the frame member by hanger springs, and an adjusting mechanism for adjusting the position of the plane spring body. The adjusting mechanism adjusts the plane spring body position via torsion springs which has a relatively large spring constant. The load associated with the occupant's weight is shared by the hanger springs and the torsion springs. The linear spring elements corresponding to the occupant's lumbar region can be extended by a small outward shift or movement of the plane spring body. Therefore, this lumbar support device imparts a good supporting feeling to the occupant.

Lumbar support device

A headrest apparatus for a vehicle seat includes a stay, a headrest frame and a headrest pad covering the headrest frame. The stay has a pair of vertical posts to be supported by the seat back of the vehicle seat and a horizontal rod connecting the vertical posts. The headrest frame includes a body portion, a connecting portion which hangs the body portion on the horizontal rod in a manner allowing the headrest frame to swing, and spaces between the body portion and the vertical posts to permit the swinging movement of the headrest frame.

Headrest apparatus for vehicle seat

A headrest device ensures the movement of a headrest frame body to a stay and enables a foaming resin molding of a headrest. A support portion having a semicircular cross section and restricting portions having an approximately U-shape cross section are formed on a plate body. Two sheets of plate bodies are connected with each other in an opposed manner. Then, a headrest pad made of foaming resin is integrally formed with the plate bodies.

Headrest device

A head rest device for a vehicle seat includes a head rest body against which is to be rested a head of an occupant seated in the vehicle seat, a stay member supporting the head rest body and fixed to a seat back frame of a seat back of the vehicle seat, a stopper member fixed to the stay member and having a stopper portion, a rotating element rotatably supported on the stay member, and an operating member for operating the head rest body between a used position and a non-used position. The operating member is slidable relative to the rotating element and includes an operating lever manually operated to change the head rest body position and a locking element engageable with the stopper portion of the stopper member. A spring member has one end engaging the stopper member and the other end engaging the rotating element so that rotation of the rotating element is permitted by the release of the engagement between the locking element and the stopper portion of the stopper member by the slideable movement of the operating member.

A lumbar support device includes a first drive device fixed to a stationary bracket member to move a lumbar pad upward and downward of a seat back, and a second drive device secured on a movable member which is one member of a link mechanism.

A lumbar support device includes a seat-back having a first upstanding frame and a second upstanding frame spaced therefrom in the lateral direction, a bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring having a first end portion which is rotatably supported by the first upstanding frame and a second end portion, a supporting plate mounted on the bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring, and a driving device disposed between the second upstanding frame and the second end portion of the bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring for moving the bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring in the direction of the thickness of the seat-back, wherein a degree of a deformation of the first end portion of the bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring is less than that of the second end portion of the bilateral asymmetrical torsion spring.
