A photographic light-sensitive element for the color diffusion transfer process which comprises a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer with at least one of the silver halide emulsion layers having associated therewith a dye releasing redox compound represented by the following general formula:

A 2-alkoxyalkoxy-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid or a salt thereof represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkylene group having 2 or more carbon atoms; R.sup.2 represents an alkyl group; and M represents an inorganic or organic cation. The compound represented by the general formula (I) is useful as an intermediate for a dye releasing redox compound which is suitable for use in the color diffusion transfer process.
