A valve element of a pressure reducing valve includes a taper portion seated on an inner periphery of a valve hole that includes a first area, a second area and a third area in order from an upstream side. The first area is provided such that, when the valve element is open, the height of a passage defined between the first area and the taper portion gradually reduces toward a downstream side. The second area is provided such that the height of a passage defined between the second area and the taper portion is constant when the valve element is open and the entire second area contacts the taper portion when the valve element is closed. The third area is provided such that, when the valve element is open, the height of a passage defined between the third area and the taper portion gradually increases toward the downstream side.

Pressure reducing valve

A pressure reducer includes a piston slidably accommodated in a cylinder to define a decompression chamber and a pressure adjusting chamber. A seal member includes an elastic member and a sliding portion. The sliding portion is pressed by the elastic member such that the sliding portion slides on an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder. An annular member is located on an outer circumferential surface of the piston and between the seal member and the pressure adjusting surface. The annular member is pressed against the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder with a force that is less than a force with which the sliding portion is pressed against the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder. Thus, the pressure reducer prevents the piston from being moved by an excessive amount with highly accurately adjusting pressure.

Valve device assembling structure, plug body, and manual valve

An annular mating portion extends from a fastening surface of a fastening nut. The mating portion has an inner diameter set to be substantially equal to an outer diameter of the portion of a piston in which an accommodating groove is formed. In a state in which the mating portion is inserted into the accommodating groove, and an inner circumferential surface of the mating portion slides in contact with a circumferential wall of the accommodating groove, the fastening nut is mated with a threaded portion, and a lip seal is held between the mating portion and the accommodating groove. This fixes the lip seal to the piston.

Pressure-reducing valve

A variable transmission ratio apparatus for effectively preventing ratcheting between a flexible spline and a circular spline caused by a steering operation performing in a locked state. A variable transmission ratio apparatus includes a strain wave gear mechanism for adding rotation resulting from motor drive to rotation from an input shaft resulting from a steering operation and transmitting the added rotation to an output shaft, a housing accommodating the strain wave gear mechanism and the motor and fixed to a non-rotating portion, and a lock device for locking the housing and a motor shaft in a manner prohibiting relative rotation therebetween. Among the circular splines forming the strain wave gear mechanism, the number of teeth of the circular spline connected to the output shaft is greater than the number of teeth of the circular spline connected to the input shaft.

Transmission ratio variable device and steering gear

A torque detecting device includes an elastic member disposed between an input shaft and an output shaft of a torque transmitting apparatus, first and second resolvers detecting rotational angles of the elastic member at sides of the input shaft and the output shaft. The first resolver includes a first excitation winding coil and a first output winding coil, and the second resolver includes a second excitation winding coil and a second output winding coil. The first and second excitation winding coils are connected to a ground, and the first and second output winding coils are connected to the other ground.

Torque detecting device

Within an angular area where each vane of a vane pump having backpressure grooves is moved radially inwardly as the rotor rotates, the outer circumferential edge of the backpressure groove is indented toward the rotational axis of the rotor along a locus drawn by the radial innermost end of each vane so that the radial innermost end of each vane does not protrude radially inwardly beyond a predetermined distance from the indented part of the outer circumferential edge of the backpressure groove.

Vane pump

In a housing of a pump apparatus having a flow control valve to discharge a part of excess fluid in a deviated slanting way to a bypass pass, a pair of suction paths' is formed opposite to end portions&#x2032; of the bypass pathto send operation fluid to suction ports of the pump apparatus. A dividing wall is equipped at opening portions of said pair of suction paths&#x2032; to distribute the operation fluid to each of suction paths&#x2032;. A cross sectional area of one of said opening portions in a side of a direction of said deviated slanting way is smaller than a cross sectional area of the other of said opening portions in an opposite side of the deviated slanting way to relatively restrict a flow of said operation fluid in said one of opening portions.

Vane pump with a bypass valve and passage arrangement for equalizing excess fluid flow through dual suction passages

A rotary pump apparatus includes a stator housing, a pump function component, at least two discharge ports, a ring shaped pressure chamber, an outflow passage and an interception wall. The pump function component is contained in the stator housing. The discharge ports discharge the operation fluid from the pump function component, and are opened into the ring shaped pressure chamber. The pressure chamber is formed in the stator housing and defined with an outer wall and an inner wall. The outflow passage is opened in the pressure chamber. The interception wall is formed in the pressure chamber by connecting one portion of the outer wall and one portion of the inner wall.

Rotary pump apparatus

An oil pump apparatus, including a pump mechanism portion for discharging operating fluid, a valve-receiving bore formed in a housing, a flow control valve arranged in the valve-receiving bore connected to a bypass hole, and a bypass passage. The bypass passage is connected to the bypass hole, having a space radially extending from an edge of the bypass hole in a fluid stream direction of the excess operating fluid spouting from an opening area of the bypass hole. When fluid stream of the excess operating fluid reaches the inner surface of the bypass passage, the pressure of the excess operating fluid has been weaken sufficiently because fluid stream of the excess operating fluid is diffused by the long span of the bypass passage extended from the edged of the bypass hole. Therefore, the inner surface of the bypass passage is protected from cavitation damages and erosion.

Oil pump apparatus

A vane pump is composed of a rotor that is rotatably disposed in a cam ring attached to a housing, a plurality of vanes that are slidably disposed in corresponding slits formed in the rotor in which the vane is projected from the slit upon rotation of the rotor, a pair of sidewall members that close both side portions of the cam ring to form a cavity defined by the cam ring and said sidewall members, a plurality of annular backpressure grooves that is depressively formed on contact surfaces of the sidewall members with the rotor in which adjacent two of the backpressure grooves are communicated with each other through a communication passage to introduce discharged pressure into an inside end portion of each of the slits, and depressions that are formed on at least one of the contact surfaces of the sidewall members with the rotor in which the depressions are not contacted with a part of side surface of each of the vanes.

A vane type rotary pump including a stator housing, a cam ring formed at its inner periphery with a cam surface and mounted within the stator housing, a pair of end wall structures fitted to the opposite ends of the cam ring to form a pump cavity in the cam ring, a drive shaft rotatably mounted within the stator housing and extending into the interior of the pump cavity through one of the end wall structures, a rotor contained within the cam ring and mounted on the drive shaft for rotation therewith, and a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced vanes slidably fitted into the body of the rotor to move radially outward from the rotor and cooperating with the cam surface of the cam ring to form a plurality of expandable pump chambers, wherein one of the end wall structures is formed at its inside face with a suction port at a portion where the pump chambers expand as the vanes move radially outward and is formed at its inside face with a discharge port at a portion where the pump chambers contract as the vanes move radially inward and a bearded groove tapered from a forward end of the discharge port in a direction opposite to a rotational direction of the rotor; the vane type rotary pump being characterized in that the bearded groove is formed with an introducing portion the surface of which is inclined into the interior of the discharge port.

A flow control device, responsive to the rotational speed of a pump and to load pressure, has a simple structure. And a housing of the flow control device for saving energy can make use of a general pump housing not for saving energy as a common housing. The flow control device of a power steering apparatus, arranged in a housing of a pump, includes a flow control valve and a load pressure responsive valve. The flow control valve includes a bypass spool with a control rod penetrating a metering orifice. The load pressure responsive valve is incorporated in a union for response to the load pressure. The control rod is located on the bypass spool for response to the rotational speed of the pump.

Flow control device of power steering apparatus

An improved tandem pump operates satisfactorily even at low temperatures. The pump has a pump housing, a first rotor, plural first vanes held by the first rotor, a second rotor, and plural second vanes held by the second rotor. A first cam ring, an intermediate side plate, and a second cam ring are disposed side by side to constitute first and second pump chambers in the housing. The side plate is split into plural parts. Oil delivered by rotation of the first rotor is forced into a pressure chamber formed between the plural parts of the intermediate side plate. The portion of the inner end surface of each first vane which receives pressure is made smaller in area than the portion of the inner end surface of each second vane which receives pressure.

Tandem pump having a different sized vane for each pump

In a pump housing are installed a pair of pump rotors which rotate as one body with a rotating shaft. A plurality of vanes are mounted on these pump rotors to separate the internal space of each cam ring into a plurality of pump chambers. An intermediate side plate is positioned between the cam rings, which are held between one wall of the pump housing and a rear side plate. The intermediate side plate is constituted of a pair of side plates which are in contact with each other. A recess is formed in the inner peripheral part of one of the opposite sides of these side plates, forming a pressure chamber. A pressure fluid discharged from the pump chamber is supplied into this pressure chamber. The inner peripheral part of each side plate is elastically deflected by the fluid pressure of the pressure chamber into contact with the side of each pump rotor. Thus, gaps between the side plates and each pump rotor are narrowed, preventing fluid leaks.
