A brake system for a vehicle is comprised of a first brake system that mechanically applies a braking force to wheels according to a master cylinder hydraulic pressure outputted from a master cylinder which receives a brake manipulation force of a driver, and a second brake system that apply a braking force to other wheels according to at least a braking state of the first brake system.

A brake lining of a vehicular brake device is produced by a friction material which has a characteristic that a friction coefficient of the friction material decreases according to an increase of a sliding speed between the brake lining and a rotational member when the sliding speed is greater than or equal to a predetermined speed during the braking operation, and the friction coefficient is substantially constant when the sliding speed is smaller than the predetermined speed.

A vehicle turning behavior control apparatus for use with a multi-wheel automatic vehicle. The apparatus provides a difference between the braking forces applied to the nearside and offside wheels of the vehicle to produce a yaw moment in a direction to which the vehicle turns. The difference is determined based upon the vehicle steering angle and is modified based upon the vehicle steering speed.

Herein disclosed is a floating caliper type disc brake which can solve or at least minimize the uncomfortable brake noise. In order to achieve this noise reduction, the caliper has three nonsymmetrically arranged finger portions for pressing an outer brake shoe against the face of the disc rotor.

A single brake cylinder for directly loading an inner pad against a disc, and a yoke for indirectly loading an outer pad against the disc are both swingable, respectively, about a cylinder pivot axis and a yoke pivot axis which are both substantially parallel to the disc, and parallel or coincident with each other. When the brake is applied, the cylinder swings in one direction and the yoke swings in the opposite direction in such a manner that the trailing portion of each pad is loaded with a greater force to reduce brake noise.
