A thermal management system includes a thermal management circuit that includes a first refrigerant circuit through which a first refrigerant flows and that includes a battery and a first radiator, and a second refrigerant circuit through which a second refrigerant different from the first refrigerant flows and that includes a heater, a first switching valve configured to switch whether the first refrigerant flows through the battery, a heat exchanger that is connected to a portion of the first refrigerant circuit between the battery and the first switching valve, and a predetermined portion of the second refrigerant circuit, and a control device. The control device is configured to control the first switching valve such that the first refrigerant flows through the battery, and to control the heater, so as to control heat exchange between the first refrigerant and the second refrigerant in the heat exchanger.

Hybrid vehicle

A vehicle which uses an internal combustion engine and a motor generator as drive sources is provided with a battery disposed under a seat and a fan for cooling the battery. Power is exchanged between the motor generator and battery via an inverter. An electronic control unit estimates the level of background noise which is noise other than the operating sound of the fan in the passenger compartment based on the vehicle speed and rotation speed, etc., of the internal combustion engine. Then, the electronic control unit calculates an operation command value for the fan based on the estimated background noise level and temperature level of the battery and controls the rotation speed of the fan through the operation command value. As a result, it is possible to effectively cool the battery while reducing sensible noise caused by the operating sound of the fan.

An electric power source device including a plurality of battery cells accommodated within a battery casing installed on an automotive vehicle, such that the battery cells are cooled air introduced from a compartment of the vehicle into the battery casing, wherein the battery casing is disposed adjacent to the vehicle compartment and is generally isolated from the compartment by a floor or covering member which partially defines the compartment or covers the battery casing, and the floor or covering member has an inlet of an air intake passage, through which the air is introduced into the battery casing, for cooling the battery cells.
