A photographic recording material. On a support are provided a silver emulsion halide layer and a photographic layer. The photographic layer contains an indole compound represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein PUG represents a photographically useful group, Ball represents an organic group which has enough molecular weight and/or disposition to render the compound non-diffusible during processing of the photographic recording material with an alkaline medium and wherein the Ball contains a nitrogen atom which is directly attached to the 5th or 6th position of the indole ring. R.sub.1 represents a halogen atom or a monovalent organic group. R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a low molecular group attached, through a carbon atom, to the 2nd position of the indole ring. 'm' represents an integer of zero to 3.

Photographic recording material with indole redox releaser

A process for forming a cyan dye image by using a novel photographic 2-equivalent cyan coupler which is characterized by having a splitt-off group of the below-indicated general formula at the active position of the cyan coupler so that the oxy portion is present on the side of the active position: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 stand for a hydrogen atom or an organic group, provided at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 should be an organic group, is disclosed.

Process for forming a cyan dye image by the use of a 2-equivalent cyan

A novel color diffusion transfer photographic element is disclosed which is characterized as having a photosensitive element containing a compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein A represents oxygen or a group of the formula .dbd.NR (in which R represents hydroxyl or an amino group); X represents hydrogen or halogen; Z represents a group of nonmetallic atoms necessary to form a first ring and being a 5 to 7-membered nonaromatic hydrocarbon ring which may be fused with a second ring, at least one of said first ring and said second ring having one or more substituents wherein at least one of said substituents is a ballast group which renders said compound nondiffusible during processing with said solution; J represents a divalent group; D represents a dye moiety or a dye precursor moiety; and n represents zero or 1.

Color diffusion transfer photographic elements

Cyan couplers of the 2-equivalent type having the formula ##STR1## wherein C.sub.p, R.sub.1 -R.sub.6, Z, n, p and q are herein defined are described. These couplers are useful in photography, and photographic materials and developers incorporating these couplers are also described.

Dye image forming process

Color developers represented by the following general formula are useful as color developing agents: ##STR1## R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are defined herein.

Color photographic developing composition

Cyan couplers of the 2-equivalent type, useful in photography are described. These compounds are characterized in that they have at least one divalent group of the formula, --OCH.sub.2 CO--, in the molecule with a split-off group at the methoxy site of said divalent radical. Photographic materials and color developers incorporating these couplers are also described.
