A fundus examination apparatus includes an illumination optical system (), which illuminates a fundus by fundus illumination light, an imaging optical system (), which photographs a fundus image based on a polarization property of reflected illumination light, and a picture signal processing device, which processes a signal output from the imaging optical system; and the imaging optical system includes a phase plate array () that a plurality of unit constitutional plates (U) is arranged in a matrix in a plane; each of the unit constitutional plates comprising four or more micro phase plates (-), a polarizer (), which polarizes the reflected illumination light passing through the phase plate array () into a predetermined polarization direction, and an image pickup device () that a plurality of constitutional units (U) is arranged in a matrix in a plane; each of the constitutional units comprising four or more pixels (G-G).

Fundus examination apparatus

An observation apparatus is provided. An apex angle of a contact prism is inputted by operating an apex angle setting knob of a control panel. A fining angle of the contact prism is inputted by operating a fitting angle setting knob. A control unit determines the amount of correction for astigmatism of a left observation optical system and the amount of correction for astigmatism of a right observation optical system based on a recognized observation magnification and the inputted apex angle. An axial angle for the astigmatism of the left observation optical system and an axial angle for the astigmatism of the right observation optical system are determined based on the inputted fitting angle. Variable cross cylinder lens rotating drive units are controlled to rotate cylinder lenses of each of the right and left observation optical systems, thereby obtaining the determined axial angle and the determined amount of correction.

Observation apparatus

An eye fundus photographing system, wherein a three-dimensional moving picture is photographed and displayed in eye fundus of infrared fluorescent photographing. The photographing system includes an exciter filter for transmitting a specific wavelength region of the illumination light emitted from the light source, an illumination optical system for irradiating the fundus with the illumination light transmitted from the exciter filter, left and right objective lenses for extracting the infrared fluorescent light emitted by an ICG of the eye fundus as a left and right photographing light, a photographing optical system including a barrier filter for transmitting the predetermined infrared wavelength region of the left and right photographic light, infrared TV cameras for photographing this wavelength region with a predetermined frame rate, a synchronizing cable for synchronizing each frame and a displayed three-dimensional moving image obtained by combining a left and right photographic image by the infrared TV camera.

An observation apparatus capable of removing astigmatism is provided. The observation apparatus includes a variable power lens system ( ) located on an observation path of an observation optical system ( ) extending from an objective lens ( ) to an imaging lens ( ). A portion of the observation optical system which extends from the objective lens ( ) to the variable power lens system ( ) serves as an observation path through which reflected light fluxes from an eye fundus (Er) of an operating eye (E) are relayed to the variable power lens system ( ) as parallel light fluxes. A portion thereof which extends from the variable power lens system ( ) to the imaging lens ( ) serves as an observation path through which the reflected light fluxes obtained through the variable power lens system ( ) are relayed to an eyepiece ( ) as parallel light fluxes. An astigmatism canceling optical element ( ) for canceling astigmatism power caused when optical members ( ) are held against the operating eye (E) is provided in any location on the observation path of the observation optical system ( ) extending from the objective lens ( ) to the eyepiece ( ).

A glaucoma diagnosis apparatus for determining thickness of nerve fiber layers. The apparatus includes an illuminating optical system for illuminating the ocular fundus of an eye to be examined with circularly polarized illuminating light and an imaging optical system including a CCD camera for photographing the image of an ocular fundus based on the reflected illuminating light from the ocular fundus and has a polarizing filter provided integrally with the imaging surface of the CCD camera. The filter includes repetitions of a unit platelet having a couple of polarizing microplates which transmit those linearly polarized light components crossing with each other out of the reflected illuminating light and adjacent polarizing microplates which transmit linearly polarized light components in direction crossing with both of the above/mentioned linearly polarized light components of the reflected illuminating light. Evaluation of a phase change of the circularly polarized illuminating light can be used to determine the nerve fiber layer thickness.

Glaucoma diagnosis apparatus

A glaucoma diagnosis apparatus capable of minimizing the difficulty of early glaucoma diagnosis caused by the illumination irregularities of the fundus is provided. For each part of the fundus image FB photographed by a color fundus camera Q, the G-component image data corresponding to the G-component reflected light intensity or the B-component image data corresponding to the B-component reflected light intensity is divided by the sum of the G-component image data, the B-component image data and also the R-component image data corresponding to the R-component reflected light intensity, reflected light intensity ratio data is obtained. Based on this reflected light intensity ratio data, the fundus image is reconstructed for glaucoma diagnosis.
