A graphic image display system allows image data input through a data input apparatus to be displayed precisely. The graphic image display system is also able to display graphic images with satisfactorily high resolution. The graphic image display system according to the present invention comprises a scanning laser beam and a thermal liquid crystal cell. The system further includes a transparent data touch tablet secured to a display screen. Auxiliary laser detectors may be added for reading the image written in the liquid crystal cell. Preferably, a common laser optical system is used to generate the display image and to read the written image.

Magnetic flux detecting means detects magnetic flux on the position determining plate, and a band pass filter eliminates a noise component resulting from the deflection magnetic field of the cathode ray tube. A pickup cartridge comprises a magnetic circuit having an air gap, a coil wound on the magnetic circuit and a cantilever having a permanent magnet inserted in to the air gap. A color television receiver for receiving a composite color television signal of the type having a chrominance component and which may include a VIR signal having a chrominance reference signal, comprises an input circuit, such as a band-pass amplifier, for receiving the chrominance signal and the chrominance reference signal, a chrominance demodulator for transforming the chrominance signal into red, blue, and green color signals, a video image display for presenting the color signals as a video picture, and a chrominance channel providing a pathway for the chrominance signal and chrominance reference signal between the input circuit and the chrominance demodulator. Included in the chrominance channel are first and second variable gain control circuits. A VIR-signal sensitive circuit is included to control the first variable gain control circuit in accordance with the amplitude of the chrominance reference signal. The second variable gain control circuit, interposed between the first variable gain control circuit and the demodulator, is selectively adjustable to provide preference adjustment of the amplitude of the chrominance signal. In the described embodiment, a level detector is included in advance of the second gain control circuit to provide to the VIR-signal sensitive circuit a level corresponding to the level of the chrominance reference signal.

Color television receiving apparatus

In a color television receiving circuit, a color-demodulating subcarrier signal produced by an oscillator is applied through a first variable phase shifter and further through a second variable phase shifter to a color demodulator circuit. The subcarrier signal, after passing through only the first variable phase shifter, is applied to a second color demodulator circuit provided particularly for hue error detection. When a received composite color television signal includes a vertical interval reference (VIR) signal, the detected output from the hue-error demodulator circuit is used to control the amount of phase shift of the first variable phase shifter, thereby automatically correcting the color hue. On the contrary, when the received signal does not include the VIR signal, the amount of phase shift of the first variable phase shifter is constant. The amount of phase shift of the second variable phase shifter can be changed by a common adjusting variable resistor irrespective of whether the VIR signal is present or not and hence the color hue can be preferentially adjusted.
