The bearing unit includes a bearingand bearing unit forming component parts such as, for example, a housingin which the bearing is incorporated, a shaft, coversandand a sealing memberfor the housing. In this bearing unit, at least one of the bearing unit forming component parts is fitted with an IC tagand an IC tagis also fitted to the bearing. The IC tagfitted to the bearing unit forming component part is of a read/write type whereas the IC tagfitted to the bearingis of a read-only type. The read-only IC tagfitted to the bearingis recorded with information necessary to correlate the bearing unit forming component part, to which the IC tagis fitted, with the bearing unit

IC tag equipped bearing unit

Tapered rollers are retained between outer and inner rings by a retainer to be circumferentially spaced apart from each other. The inner ring has a raceway on its outer surface and includes small and large-diameter flanges at the small- and large-diameter ends of the raceway, respectively. The retainer includes two annular portions and crossbars extending between the annular portions. Its radially inner surface is located radially inwardly of the pitch cone of the tapered rollers to increase the thickness of the crossbars and the axial thickness of the small-diameter annular portion. The conical surface defined by the outer surfaces of the crossbars has an inclination angle that is greater than the central angle of the bearing to increase the volume of the crossbars. The rigidity of the retainer is thus increased.

Tapered roller bearing

A bearing assembly includes a full type tapered roller bearing and a roller presser which prevents separation of the rollers not only during transportation but while the outer ring is not mounted. The roller presser includes a ring member, and a plurality of arms extending from one side of the ring member. Each arm is inserted in one of the triangular spaces defined by the tapered raceway of the outer ring and the adjacent tapered rollers. The arms press the rollers against the inner ring. A pair of diametrically opposed bridges are provided, each extending between the free ends of a pair of adjacent arms. The bridges engage two diametrically opposed rollers, thereby preventing separation of the rollers not only during transportation but also while the outer ring is not mounted.

Full type tapered roller bearing

A roll supporting device for a rolling mill arrangement, supporting rolls rotatably to housings by double row roller bearings or multi-row roller bearings. On surfaces of bearing rings and rollers of the roller bearing are provided carbonitrided layers of 0.80% or greater in carbon content and of Rockwell hardness HRC 58 or greater. The carbonitrided layers are formed to contain residual austenite content of 25-30% by volume. By virtue of the carbonitrided layers, the strength against the surface-initiated type damage to the contact surfaces of the bearing rings and the rollers is improved, so that the enhancement of the life of the roll supporting device, especially the lives of the bearing portions thereof, can be achieved to contribute to the prolongation of inspection and maintenance periods and to the reduction of inspection and maintenance costs.
