The present invention provides a process of producing an aviation fuel base oil having excellent combustibility, oxidation stability and life cycle characteristics, hydrotreating in the presence of hydrogen a feedstock comprising an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compound originating from an animal or vegetable fat (preferably an animal or vegetable fat that contains fatty acids each having 10 to 14 carbon atoms in the fatty acid carbon chain in the total amount of 60 percent by mass or more) and a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon compound. The present invention also provides a process for producing an aviation fuel base oil by blending such an aviation fuel base oil and an aviation fuel base oil produced by refining crude oil.

The present invention provides an environment friendly aviation fuel base oil having combustibility, oxidation stability and excellent life cycle characteristics and contributing to diversification of primary energy, which is produced by hydrotreating a feedstock comprising a mixed oil of an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compound originating from an animal or vegetable fat and a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon compound or a feedstock comprising said mixed oil and a petroleum base oil produced by refining crude oil and an aviation fuel composition comprising the aviation fuel base oil, and an aviation fuel composition containing such an aviation fuel base oil.

A method for producing a lubricant base oil includes contacting feedstock containing normal paraffins having not less than 20 carbon atoms with a first catalyst in the presence of molecular hydrogen to obtain a first produced oil, and contacting the first produced oil with a second catalyst in the presence of molecular hydrogen to obtain a second produced oil. The first catalyst includes a first carrier in which a fraction of an amount of NHto be desorbed at 300 to 800&#xb0; C. based on a total amount of NHto be desorbed is 80 to 90% in temperature-programmed desorption of NH, a first metal selected from metals of Group VI in the periodic table carried on the first carrier, and a second metal selected from metals of Group VIII to Group X in the periodic table carried on the first carrier.

Method for producing lubricant base oil

The method for manufacturing a hydrocarbon oil of the present invention comprises a first step wherein a plurality of reaction zones filled with a specific catalyst is disposed in series and a feedstock oil containing an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compound derived from an animal or vegetable oil is supplied and hydrotreated under the conditions of a hydrogen pressure of 1 MPa or more and 10 MPa or less in each of the reaction zones; and a second step wherein hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and water are removed from a product to be treated obtained in the first step to obtain a hydrocarbon oil. Among the plurality of reaction zones, the inlet temperature of the reaction zone disposed on the most upstream side is 150&#xb0; C. or more and 250&#xb0; C. or less, the inlet temperature of the second most upstream reaction zone or below is equal to or higher than the condensation temperature of water, and the outlet temperature of the reaction zone disposed on the most downstream side is 260&#xb0; C. or more and 360&#xb0; C. or less. The feedstock oil comprises a recycled oil containing a specific amount of a part of the hydrocarbon oil obtained in the second step and a specific amount of a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon compound.

Process for producing hydrocarbon oil

A method for manufacturing a hydrocarbon oil, comprising: a first step wherein a feedstock oil containing an oxygen-containing organic compound and a water-insoluble chlorine-containing compound is brought into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst comprising a support containing a porous inorganic oxide and one or more metals selected from Group VIA and Group VIII of the periodic table supported on the support in the presence of hydrogen to generate a hydrocarbon oil and water in a vapor state by the hydrodeoxygenation of an oxygen-containing organic compound and convert the water-insoluble chlorine-containing compound into a water-soluble chlorine-containing compound; a second step wherein the water in the reaction product of the first step is maintained in a vapor state and the reaction product of the first step is brought into contact with a nitrogen-containing Br&#xf8;nsted base compound which has a boiling point at normal pressure of 100&#xb0; C. or less and is water-soluble to obtain a product to be treated; and a third step wherein the product to be treated is cooled to a temperature not higher than the temperature at which water in a vapor state is liquefied to form an aqueous phase containing a water-soluble chlorine-containing compound and a nitrogen-containing Br&#xf8;nsted base compound and then separate the aqueous phase from an oil to be treated to obtain a product oil containing a hydrocarbon oil.

The production process of the invention comprises a first step of hydrodesulfurizing of catalytically-cracked gasoline so as to result in an olefin hydrogenation rate of no greater than 25 mol % in the catalytically-cracked gasoline, a total sulfur content of no greater than 20 ppm by weight based on the product oil weight, a sulfur content derived from thiophenes and benzothiophenes of no greater than 5 ppm by weight and a sulfur content derived from thiacyclopentanes of no greater than 0.1 ppm by weight, and a second step of further hydrodesulfurizing of the product oil obtained by the first step so as to result in a total of no greater than 30 mol % for the olefin hydrogenation rate in the first step and the olefin hydrogenation rate in the second step, a total sulfur content of no greater than 10 ppm by weight based on the product oil weight, and a sulfur content derived from thiols of no greater than 5 ppm by weight.

Process for producing gasoline base and gasoline

The present invention provides a fuel composition capable of suppressing reduction of fuel consumption, maintaining the excellent exhaust gas properties of a Fischer-Tropsch synthetic oil. The fuel composition comprises a Fischer-Tropsch synthetic oil and a petroleum-based hydrocarbon mixture A having the following properties (1) to (5) in an amount of 10 to 30 percent by volume on the basis of the total mass of the composition: (1) 15&#xb0; C. density: 800 Kg/cmor greater and 900 Kg/mor less; (2) 10 volume % distillation temperature (T10): 150&#xb0; C. or higher and 200&#xb0; C. or lower; (3) 97 volume % distillation temperature (T97): 270&#xb0; C. or lower; (4) aromatic content: 40 percent by volume or more and 70 percent by volume or less; and (5) sulfur content: 30 ppm by mass or less.

Fuel composition

A hydrodesulfurization catalyst used for hydrodesulfurization of catalytically cracked gasoline comprises a support composed mainly of alumina modified with an oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of iron, chromium, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, yttrium, scandium and lanthanoid-based metals, with at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Group 6A and Group 8 metals loaded as an active metal on the support. Hydrogenation of olefins generated as by-products during hydrodesulfurization of the catalytically cracked gasoline fraction, as an important constituent base of gasoline, can be adequately inhibited to maintain the octane number, while sufficiently reducing the sulfur content of the hydrodesulfurized catalytically cracked gasoline fraction.

A hydrogenation catalyst for a hydrocarbon oil, includes an inorganic porous support composed of at least the oxides of aluminum, phosphorus, and silicon, and supporting at least one active metal selected from the metals of Group 8 of the periodic table, at least one active metal selected from the metals of Group 6 of the periodic table, and phosphorus, the phosphorus chemical shift value of the inorganic support determined byP-CPMAS-NMR having the peak within the range of 0 to &#x2212;20 ppm. The catalyst can achieve an extremely high level of hydrogenation wherein the hydrocarbon is decreased in sulfur content to 10 ppm by mass or less and in nitrogen content to 3 ppm by mass or less.

Hydrogenation catalyst for hydrocarbon oil and process for hydrogenation using the catalyst

A hydrogenation region in a fixed bed reactor is defined with a first, a second and a third hydrogenation zones sequentially from the entrance of the reactor, and a sulfur-containing diesel gas oil feedstock is passed through the first, second and third hydrogenation zones sequentially under conditions of a temperature of 320 to 420&deg; C., a pressure of 5 to 15 MPa, an LHSV of 0.5 to 3 h,and a hydrogen/oil ratio of 1000 to 5000 scfb, wherein (a) a catalyst consisting essentially of cobalt and molybdenum on a porous carrier containing alumina as a main ingredient is loaded in the first hydrogenation zone in an amount of 20 to 60 vol %, (b) a catalyst consisting essentially of nickel and tungsten on a porous carrier containing 85 to 99 wt % of alumina or amorphous silica-alumina and 1 to 15 wt % of zeolite is loaded in the second hydrogenation zone in an amount of 20 to 60 vol % and (c) a catalyst consisting essentially of cobalt and/or nickel and molybdenum on a porous carrier containing alumina as a main ingredient is loaded in the third hydrogenation zone in an amount of 10 to 30 vol %.

Process and apparatus for hydrodesulfurization of diesel gas oil

Diesel gas oil feedstock with 1-3 wt % sulfur can be hydrodesulfurized to a diesel gas oil with 0.05 wt % or less sulfur and a Saybolt color of &plus;20 or higher, by defining a hydrogenation region in a fixed bed reactor with a first hydrogenation zone for dibenzothiophene, 1-, 2- and 3-methyldibenzothiophenes, a second hydrogenation zone for 4-methyldibenzothiophene and 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene and a third hydrogenation zone for thiols, sulfides and other sulfur-containing substances.

A process for hydrodesulfurization of a sulfur-containing petroleum hydrocarbon diesel gas oil comprising; hydrodesulfurizing a sulfur-containing petroleum hydrocarbon diesel gas oil feedstock, separating the hydrodesulfurized diesel gas oil feedstock into light and heavy fractions by distillation, hydrodesulfurizing further the separated heavy fraction, and mixing the further hydrodesulfurized heavy fraction and the separated light fraction into the hydrocarbon diesel gas oil.
