In a battery pack, it is difficult that information on a contained battery of the battery pack, such as the accurate state of charge of the battery, is detected at an external equipment. A communication terminal which can communicate the state of charge of the contained battery to the external equipment is provided on the installation surface on which power supply terminals of the battery pack are provided or on the surface adjacent to the installation surface. This allows the corresponding electrodes or the like of the external equipment to be concentrated at one place, so that the space required to arrange the corresponding electrodes or the like is reduced, thus downsizing the equipment.

A battery device that prevents mistaken connection to a main apparatus includes a casing which houses a battery. The casing has a loading surface section on a lateral surface of its outer periphery. The loading surface section corresponds to a setting surface section of a main apparatus. The loading surface section of the casing has a discrimination groove having an opening end opened on an abutment surface and extending from the opening end parallel to the loading direction on the main apparatus. The abutment surface is formed on the loading surface of the casing for extending in a direction at right angles to the loading surface section.

A battery pack housing four tubular cells in juxtaposition to each other in vertical and transverse directions. The battery pack has a cell housing unit, a plurality of cells housed within said cell housing unit, first and second grooves formed on both lateral surfaces of the cell housing unit extending parallel to the direction of insertion of the housing unit into an electronic device, at a mid height along the height of the cell housing unit, and a third groove formed at a mid position along the width of the housing unit extending from the forward end face as far as a mid portion of the housing unit. The battery loading device also has an engagement boss on an end face of the battery loading section lying in the inserting direction of the battery pack. The engagement boss is engaged in a hole formed in the forward end face of the housing unit of the battery pack. In the electronic equipment, a battery pack housing four cells and a battery pack housing two cells is loaded at a selectively set loading position.

The present invention is directed to a battery pack in which it can be detected with ease whether a battery pack is properly attached to a battery charger or a power supply of electrical machinery and apparatus. A battery pack (10) that accommodates therein a battery includes at its central bottom surface a detection aperture (104) that is engaged with an engagement portion formed at a connection portion of a battery charger or electrical machinery and apparatus to which the battery pack is connected to thereby detect the kind of the battery. Also, the battery pack (10) includes on its bottom surface a detection aperture (106) that is engaged with an engagement portion formed at a connection portion of the battery charger or electrical machinery and apparatus to which the battery pack is connected to thereby detect an electric power output amount of the battery.

A built-in camera type video tape recorder as disclosed that can be loaded on a connecting apparatus for connecting the built-in camera type video tape recorder having video signal, audio signal, and control signal terminals and a power supply connecting terminal to other electrical machinery and apparatus. It comprises a supporting member formed at one side wall of the built-in camera type video tape recorder and having a shutter member, the shutter member being opened in a ganged relation with a shutter which is opened when the built-in camera type video tape recorder is loaded on the connecting apparatus, and a terminal portion facing an opening portion of the shutter member of aid supporting member and being electrically connected to a signal input and output portion projected from the opening portion opened when a shutter of the connecting apparatus is opened. A connecting apparatus for connecting such a built-in camera type video tape recorder comprises an apparatus body being connected to the other electrical machinery and apparatus via a cable, an input and output terminal portion for connecting respective terminals of the built-in camera type video tape recorder to the apparatus body, the built-in camera type video tape recorder being loaded onto the apparatus body, a shutter mechanism for opening a shutter provided on the apparatus body by a slide operation, and a terminal portion for electrically connecting the signal input and output terminal portion.

A battery pack having rechargeable secondary batteries housed in a battery casing. The battery pack includes hollow tubular-shaped anodic and cathodic terminals in a right upper void and in a left upper void, respectively, of the battery casing. The voids are produced by housing the cylindrical first and second secondary batteries in the battery casing. An anodic terminal connecting pin and a cathodic terminal connecting pin are provided on an external equipment for fitting in and connecting with the anodic terminal and the cathodic terminal, respectively. Since there is no necessity for providing a particular mounting space for the anodic and cathodic terminals, the battery pack may be reduced in size, while the battery pack may be reliably supported with respect to the external equipment in a manner free from wobbling or detachment from the external equipment.

A battery pack having a detection recess formed along a center line of a bottom surface arranged such that the detection recess is engaged with a convexed portion of a battery charger. Therefore, whether or not the battery pack is properly attached to the battery charger can easily be detected by the inclination of the battery pack about the center line. Further, a battery pack is arranged such that an aperture is formed on an outer surface of the battery pack and an output terminal is inwardly disposed on the aperture. Therefore, damage to the batteries in the battery pack caused by a short-circuit resulting from products made of conductive metal material such as a key ring, necklace, or chain contacting both of the output terminals, as occurs when terminals are disposed on the outer surface of the battery pack, can be prevented. Furthermore, the battery pack includes apertures with output terminals disposed therein for discharging dust or the like away from the terminals into the interior of the casing or out of the casing through a hole. Therefore, the accumulation of dust or the like within the apertures and upon the output terminals is prevented.

The battery casing comprises positive and negative terminal plates exposed for connection to the respective terminal rods when the battery casing is attached on the electric equipment. The battery casing also includes a shutter mechanism for covering at least one of the terminal plates. The shutter mechanism uncovers the one terminal plate in response to movement of the corresponding one of the terminal rods during the course of attachment of the battery casing on the electric equipment so as to permit the one terminal rod to come into contact with the one terminal plate.
