A roll-shaped medium transport device includes: a medium supply unit that keeps a roll body formed by winding a roll-shaped medium on a support shaft, and unwinds and supplies the roll-shaped medium; a transport unit that transports the roll-shaped medium unwound from the roll body; a rotation detecting unit that detects rotation of the support shaft; a rotation unit that rotates the support shaft; and a determination unit that determines abnormality of a transport state of the roll-shaped medium on the basis of the rotation detecting unit when the rotation unit rotates the support shaft, when the rotation detecting unit does not detect the rotation of the support shaft in a state where a transport operation of the roll-shaped medium is performed by the transport unit.

A determination device that determines the mounted state of the roll body on which the medium is wound in a roll shape, includes a roll motor that rotates a rotating member on which the roll body is mounted; a transportation roller that transports the medium fed from the roll body, in a transportation direction; a storage unit that stores information which is capable of specifying a pulling-out direction of the roll body mounted on the rotating member; a sensor that detects a rotation of the transportation roller; and a determination unit that detects whether or not the roll body corresponding to the information is mounted normally. The determination unit determines that the roll body is not mounted normally, in a case where the sensor detects the rotation of the transportation roller is rotating, when the roll motor is rotated in a direction corresponding to the pulling-out direction.

A recording apparatus includes an ink discharge part, a first drive part that drives a rotation of a roll body in which the recording medium is wound, a second drive part that drives the conveyance part that conveys the recording medium, and a control part that controls operations of the first drive part and the second drive part. The control part drives the first drive part in a halted state of the second drive part and executes a measurement that measures a relationship between a load and a drive speed when conveying the recording medium and the control part executes the measurement for a single rotation of the roll body. The control part also provides a first measurement mode to execute the single rotation which is divided into plural number.
