A method of manufacturing an optical element includes preparing a first transparent base having a d-line refractive index of 1.80 or more and a second transparent base having a d-line refractive index of 1.80 or more, coating an adhesive on the first transparent base and/or the second transparent base, the adhesive containing a photo-curable resin and a photopolymerization initiator having an absorption edge wavelength of 410 nm or more, and bonding the first transparent base and the second transparent base by irradiating the adhesive with light with a wavelength of 400 nm or more through the second transparent base to cure the adhesive.

A cured product contains a dispersant, inorganic particles, and a resin that is a product of polymerization or copolymerization of a curable resin. The dispersant contains a compound represented by a formula R&#x2014;X, wherein R represents a group having an acryloyloxy group or a methacryloyloxy group at an end of the molecule thereof, and X represents a carboxy group. The dispersant content is 10 parts by volume to 20 parts by volume relative to 100 parts by volume of the cured product. A laminated diffractive optical element includes a first resin layer having a first lattice shape and a second resin layer having a second lattice shape. The first resin layer and the second resin layer are laminated in this order on a first substrate so that the lattice shapes oppose each other. The first resin layer contains a resin and transparent conductive particles. The transparent conductive particles have an average particle size of 1 nm to 100 nm. Stacked diffraction optical element including an optical element made of organic-inorganic composite resin material

A multi-layered diffraction optical element, comprises a transparent substrate, a first layer having a diffraction grating shape at least on one face and comprised of a relatively high refractive index and low dispersion material, and a second layer having a diffraction grating shape at least on one face and comprised of a relatively low refractive index and high dispersion material, wherein the first and second layers are laminated on the transparent substrate so that the respective diffraction grating shapes are mutually opposed to each other with no space therebetween, and, the first layer is comprised of a first organic resin including a first inorganic fine particle, and the second layer is comprised of a second organic resin including a second inorganic fine particle different from the first inorganic fine particle.

In a diffraction optical element in which a plurality of diffraction gratings are laminated and the maximum difference of length among optical paths of light passing through the plurality of diffraction gratins is integer multiples of a plurality of wavelengths, diffraction efficiency is further improved and even when an environmental condition changes, a deviation of the diffraction efficiency is reduced. More specifically, a diffraction optical element is disclosed which includes, as the plurality of diffraction gratings, a first diffraction grating made of a resin material, in which inorganic fine particles are dispersed, and a second diffraction grating made of a material whose organic matter composition is substantially same as that of the resin material.

An optical material is a mixture of materials comprising a first material having a refractive index of not more than 1.45 for the d-line and a second material having an Abbe's number, indicating wavelength dispersion in the visible region, of not more than 25. An optical element of which diffraction efficiency hardly varies with wavelength is provided by using an optical material satisfying the conditions that n&#x3e;&#x2212;6.667&#xd7;10&#x3bd;+1.70 and &#x3b8;&#x2266;&#x2212;2&#xd7;10&#x3bd;+0.59 where nis a refractive index at d-line, &#x3bd;is an Abbe number at the d-line, and &#x3b8;is a second order dispersion at d-line, whereby diffraction efficiency is improved in any working visible wavelength region and more precise chromatic aberration correction is obtained.

In a fog prevention and antireflection optical element including a first water absorption layer containing a water-absorbing polymer as its main component, a high refractive layer, and a second water absorption layer which are formed on a base in this order, an inorganic material (nd&#x3e;1.70) is mixed in the water-absorbing polymer of the first water absorption layer, whereby the difference in refractive index with respect to the optical element is decreased.
