In a slide member in which an overlay is provided on a slide receiving surface of a base member, the overlay is formed by attaching a mixed solid lubricant on the slide receiving surface of the base member. The mixed solid lubricant is made by mixing a large amount of hydrogen containing solid lubricant which contains a large amount of hydrogen, and a small amount of hydrogen containing solid lubricant which contains a smaller hydrogen amount than the large amount of hydrogen containing lubricant. Thereby, a lubricant absence region where the solid lubricant is absent in a thickness direction is formed on the slide receiving surface of the base member after sliding, and an oxidized portion where the base member is oxidized is formed in the lubricant absence region.

Slide member

A slide member including a base material; and an overlay that is formed over the base material and that consists of Ag or Ag alloy including crystal planes (hk1) represented by Miller indices; wherein a relative X-ray diffraction intensity of crystal plane (200) to a sum of X-ray diffraction intensities of crystal planes (200), (111), (220), (311), and (222) of the overlay ranges between 1%&#x2266;(200)/{(200)+(111)+(220)+(311)+(222)}&#x2266;20% and the relative X-ray diffraction intensity of the crystal plane (200) to the X-ray diffraction intensity of the crystal plane (111) ranges between 1%&#x2266;(200)/(111)&#x2266;30%.

A slide member including a base material; an intermediate layer consisting of Ag or Ag-based alloy and an additive element of a first quantity formed over the base material; and an overlay comprising Bi or Bi-based alloy and the additive element of a second quantity formed over the intermediate layer, wherein the additive element consists of a low melting point metal, the first quantity being five times or greater than the second quantity.

The present invention is intended to provide a sliding member which exhibits an excellent anti-seizure property even under starved lubricant conditions. In the present invention, there is provided a sliding member with a structure, in which a coating layer having a sliding surface is adhered to the surface of the base material, wherein the coating layer does not contain a resin binder but has solid lubricant plate crystal particles laminated therein, wherein these solid lubricant plate crystal particles have a lamellar crystal structure in which (001) planes are stacked in parallel, and at least in the sliding surface, the orientation index of the (001) plane of the solid lubricant plate crystal particles is 90% or more.

Multi-layer sliding member, and method for forming coating layer of sliding member

A sliding member has a sliding alloy layer, an intermediate layer of Ni or a Ni alloy formed on the sliding alloy layer, and a soft layer of Sn or a Sn alloy formed on the intermediate layer. A recess is formed on the sliding side surface of the sliding alloy layer. The intermediate layer is formed on the inner surface of the recess. The sliding member is subjected to a heat treatment, whereby there are formed intermetallic compounds in the soft layer, which extend protrudently from the intermediate layer.

Sliding member

In order to improve conformability of a sliding surface of a sliding member in an early state of sliding, there is provided a sliding member in which a plurality of holes are formed on a sliding surface, and the diameters (or the opening area) of the holes on the sliding surface are arranged so as to become gradually large as it gets closer to both ends in an axial direction from the center side in the axial direction. This feature decreases the pressurized area as it gets closer to the ends of the sliding surface so that it wears at an early stage, whereby a conformed surface following the deflection of a mating member is provided.

In a slide member such as a slide bearing, the invention can make a height of a bank portion around an oil keeping concave portion small, whereby it is possible to improve an initial conformability and improve an anti-seizure performance. A plurality of holes are formed on a slide surface with respect to an opposing member by a fiber laser apparatus. At this time, in the case that a height of a bank portion generated in the periphery of the concave portions in accordance with the laser processing so as to bulge from a slide surface is set to t, and a depth of the concave portions from the slide surface is set to h, an energy density of the laser beam is adjusted such that a value t is equal to or less than 3 &#x3bc;m, and a rate t/h is between 0.1 and 0.5.

Slide member, manufacturing method and manufacturing apparatus of the same

Disclosed is a sliding member having a bearing alloy layer, an intermediate layer of Ni or a Ni alloy formed on the bearing alloy layer, and an overlay layer of a Sn alloy containing Cu formed on the intermediate layer. There exist Sn&#x2014;Cu compounds in the overlay layer, which protrudently extend from the intermediate layer. The hard Sn&#x2014;Cu compounds contribute to the overlay layer in improving fatigue resistance property. A soft Sn matrix being rich in an outer surface region of the overlay layer is responsible for keeping good conformability to have excellent anti-seizure property.

The invention provides a sliding member including a plurality of holes formed on a sliding surface thereof, which sliding surface is adapted to slide on a mating member, at least one of the holes having an enlarged portion in at least a portion between an opening end and a bottom end thereof, the enlarged portion being larger than the opening end on the sliding surface.

Sliding member and method of manufacturing the same

There is provided a multi-layer sliding material, comprising a back metal layer, a bearing alloy layer bonded onto the back metal layer, and a coating layer bonded onto the bearing alloy layer, said coating layer being made of an alloy consisting of 20 to 80 mass % Pb, at least one optional element not more than 10 mass % in total selected from the group consisting of In, Sb, Sn and Ag, and the balance Cu and incidental impurities. The material may further comprise a conforming layer made of an alloy containing not less than 80 mass % Pb.

Multilayer sliding material

In order to enhance the anti-seizure property of the sliding bearing while making the content of Pb contained in the Sn-based overlay layer smaller or while using no Pb if possible, there is provided a multi-layer sliding bearing comprising a back metal layer, a bearing alloy layer, an intermediate plating layer and a Sn-based overlay layer, the Sn-based overlay layer containing reinforcing metal and/or inorganic particles, the content of the reinforcing metal and/or inorganic particles being varied step-wise or successively in a direction of a thickness of the overlay layer so that the content in a thickness-wise central portion of said overlay layer is relatively high and so that another content in a surface portion of the overlay layer is zero or smaller than the content in the central portion.

Multi-layer sliding bearing

A plain bearing comprising a back metal layer, a bearing alloy layer and an overlay which coats the bearing alloy layer. The overlay is made of a lead-free tin-base alloy which comprises from more than 2 wt % to 10 wt % Ag. The lead-free tin-base alloy may further comprise 0.1 wt % to 25 wt % of one or more elements selected from a group consisting of Cu, Sb, Zn and Ni.

Plain bearing

There is provided a plain bearing in which 0.3 to 25 vol. % of hard particles, having a mean particle diameter of not more than 1.5 &mgr;m, are dispersed in a main load portion of the overlay, so that the main load portion is formed into a hard region harder than the other portion of the overlay. With this construction, the main load portion is enhanced in wear resistance while the other portion is enhanced in foreign matter embeddability. Therefore, there is provided the plain bearing which is less liable to undergo seizure due to abnormal wear even if solid foreign matter are included into lubricating oil, thus exhibiting excellent wear resistance and foreign matter embeddability.

Disclosed is a Cu--Pb alloy bearing and a producing method thereof. The Cu--Pb alloy bearing consists of a backing metal layer and a Cu--Pb bearing alloy layer which is bonded to the backing metal layer and whose matrix contains dispersed Pb-phase grains. Within an at least 30 .mu.m thick surface region of the Cu--Pb bearing alloy layer, the Pb-phase grains comprise at least one of In and Sn in an amount or a total amount of not less than 2 wt %, respectively, which are elements added into the Pb-phase grains by migration.

Cu-Pb alloy bearing and producing method therefor

A sliding bearing of copper-based alloy is provided which is superior in seizure resistance and wear resistance. The sliding bearing of copper-based alloy is provided with a back metal layer, a bearing alloy layer disposed on the back metal layer which bearing alloy layer consists of a copper alloy, a copper-zinc intermediate layer containing 20 to 50 wt % of zinc disposed on the bearing alloy layer, and a tin-based or aluminum-based overlay disposed on the intermediate layer.
