An image display apparatus which corrects images, which are projected from a plurality of image display sections onto different regions of a screen, by a correction data calculated from picked up image data, and joins the images so that they can be displayed as a continuous image on the screen.

Image processing apparatus

Disclosed herein is an image processing apparatus, in which an object image focused by a lens is split into a plurality of images by means of a light splitting section. These images are converted into image data items by a plurality of imaging devices which are arranged with their imaging area overlapping in part. The image data items are stored temporarily in an image storing section. A displacement detecting section detects displacement coefficients (rotation angle R and parallel displacement S) from the image signals representing the mutual overlap region of two images which are to be combined and which are represented by two image data items read from the image storing section. The position of any specified pixel of the image displayed is identified by the pixel signal generated by the corresponding pixel of any imaging device. An interpolation section performs interpolation on the pixel values of the imaging device, thereby correcting the values of the other pixels of the image displayed and ultimately generating interpolated image signals. The interpolated image signals are combined with the image signals produced by the imaging device, whereby a display section displays a high-resolution image.

A scanning probe microscope according to the present invention comprises a cantilever having a free end portion and a fixed end portion, the free end portion bearing a probe thereon, a semiconductor laser attached to the fixed end portion of the cantilever, an optical waveguide for guiding a laser beam, emitted from the semiconductor laser, to the free end portion, an optical element for dividing part of a center beam of the laser beam, guided through the optical waveguide, into laser beams in at least two perpendicular directions, a photoelectric transducer for receiving the divided laser beams and converting the laser beams into electrical output signals corresponding thereto, and a differential circuit for receiving the electrical signals and subjecting the signals to predetermined arithmetic processing, thereby detecting a three-dimensional displacement of the free end portion of the cantilever.

A sensor comprises a tiny cantilever of a thin film having a detection region at its free end portion, a detector for detecting a displacement of the cantilever caused by material acting on the detecting region, and calculation unit for calculating an amount of the material acting on the detection region, based on the displacement of the cantilever which has been detected by the detector, thereby to measure the intensity of a particle-stream applied to the detection region or the thickness of a film formed on the detection region.

A scanning tunnel microscope includes a piezo-actuator movable in a direction Z perpendicular to the surface of a sample and provided with a scanning probe projected downward from the bottom thereof. The scanning probe is moved in the direction Z by the piezo-actuator. The piezo-actuator includes a position measuring probe projected therefrom, parallel to the surface of the sample, from the lower end of one side thereof. A reference sample having concaves formed on a surface thereof at predetermined intervals is fixed to the piezo-actuator. When the scanning probe is moved in the direction Z, the position measuring probe is moved along the reference sample, so that tunnel current having a waveform which reproduces the shape of the concaved surface of the reference sample is detected. Thus, the moving distance of the scanning probe can be obtained from the waveform of tunnel current detected.

In a probe for observing an ultrasonic image, which obtains the ultrasonic image of an object to be observed such as a body cavity by means of an ultrasonic transmitting and receiving means, a mechanical scanning operation of the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving means is performed by an ultrasonic driving means, and thus it is possible to obtain a good diagnosis image with no distortion and no flicker because noises of the driving means can be reduced. Therefore, an ultrasonic endoscope system and an ultrasonic video endoscope system etc. which utilize the probe mentioned above can display a good ultrasonic image and a good optical image.

A liquid crystal spectacle includes a pair of liquid crystal lenses and a frame holding the lenses. The frame has a pair of temples and a pair of ear pieces attached individually to the temples. Each ear piece houses a battery for supplying the voltage to the corresponding lens. Each temple houses a regulator circuit for regulating the voltage supplied from the battery to the lens, thereby controlling the refractive index of the lens.

A reel shaft comprises a substantially cylindrical shaft body to be fitted into a reel hub of a tape cassette for rotating the reel hub. A plurality of elongate projections are formed at regular intervals along the circumferential direction on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft body, and extend at a predetermined angle to the axial direction of the shaft body. The elongate projections on the shaft body engage or mesh with engaging projections of the reel hub to rotate the reel hub, and to push the reel hub in one direction along the axial direction of the reel shaft as the shaft body rotates.

The pinch pressure-adjusting device comprises a pair of pinch roller-supporting members which rotatably hold the paired pinch rollers and whose pivotal shaft is set in parallel with the rotary shafts of said paired pinch rollers; a first urging member, one end of which is fixed to one of the paired pinch roller-supporting members; a second urging member, one end of which is fixed to the other of the paired pinch roller-supporting members; and a movable member which is fixed to the other end of the first urging member and to the other end of the second urging member. A cassette tape recorder used with a tape cassette loaded therein comprises a pair of capstans, a motor, a power transmission mechanism, a first and a second magnetic head assembly, a moving mechanism and a magnetic head assembly operation switching circuit. The motor rotates selectively in one or the other direction at the same constant speed and with the same characteristics. The transmission mechanism is coupled to the capstans and to the motor for transmitting the rotation of the motor to the capstans to cause simultaneous rotation of the capstans in one or the other direction at the same constant speed. The first and second assemblies move between a first position in contact with the tape in the loaded tape cassette and a second position spaced apart from the tape. In the first position, the first assembly can record magnetic signals in some track of the tape driven in one direction or reproduce magnetic signals from the track, and the second assembly can record magnetic signals in other track of the tape driven in the other direction or reproduce magnetic signals from the track. The moving mechanism moves the two assemblies simultaneously and in the same direction. The circuit electrically selects and renders operative the first assembly when the tape is driven in one direction and selects and renders operative the second assembly when the tape is driven in the other direction.
