A polypropylene resin composition, which exhibits an excellent coating adherence, high rigidity, high impact strength at low temperatures, prominent heat resistance and excellent appearance of moldings as required for coatings on the exterior parts of automobiles even without effecting a treatment with trichloroethane as pretreatment step before coating and without a primer as undercoating and which can be baked at a temperature of 130.degree. C. or higher, comprises 15 to 92% by weight crystalline ethylene propylene block copolymer, 5 to 40% by weight ethylene propylene copolymer rubber, 1 to 15% by weight polypropylene oligomer containing hydroxyl group, and 2 to 30% by weight inorganic filler.

A method of crosslinking a rubber or plastic molding is described, which comprises irradiating the molding with electron beams to thereby limitedly crosslink only the surface of the molding. The molding thus-treated has excellent shape-sustaining properties and good surface appearance. Thus it is expected to find many applications in various fields.

The present invention provides a method which enables the surface of a molded article of a polypropylene resin to be modified to a surface suitable for coating, bonding, printing, etc. A molded article of a polypropylene resin comprising polypropylene, an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber and an ethylene-acrylic acid or ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer and optionally a filler is irradiated in the air with a light from a synthetic quartz low pressure mercury lamp having an output of 200 W for 60 sec with the distance between the surface of the molded article and the lamp being kept at about 10 cm.

A thermoplastic elastomer composition superior in moldability and appearance, little in anisotropy of mechanical properties, especially, tensile strength and retaining low temperature impact strength, is obtained by previously melt-kneading an intermediate composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a selectively hydrogenated block copolymer which has at least two mono-alkenyl or mono-alkenylidene aromatic hydrocarbon polymer blocks A having a number-average molecular weight of 25,000-35,000 and at least one partially or completely hydrogenated aliphatic conjugated diene hydrocarbon polymer block B having a number-average molecular weight of 100,000-150,000, (b) 50-150 parts by weight of an extender oil and (c) 0-50 parts by weight of polypropylene I, then adding, to the kneaded intermediate composition, (d) polypropylene II containing at least 35% by weight of a propylene-ethylene block copolymer having a melt flow rate of 10-30 g/10 min. and an ethylene content of 3-15% by weight in such amount that total amount of polypropylene I plus polypropylene II is 200-400 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of block copolymer (a) and then further melt kneading the mixture. Further addition of a filler to the composition can afford a thermoplastic elastomer composition of small linear expansion coefficient with retaining the above properties.
