An irrigation/aspiration apparatus capable of detecting an aspiration pressure accurately while preventing an aspirated liquid from entering an aspiration pressure detecting system. The apparatus, which supplies an irrigation liquid to a surgical site and aspirates the supplied liquid with eliminated tissue to be discharged out of a body, has an aspiration channel, a shape-alterable diaphragm in pouch form, including a liquid chamber which communicates with the aspiration channel, a gas chamber which stores and surrounds the diaphragm, and a pressure sensor connecting with the gas chamber via a connecting part.

Irrigation/aspiration apparatus

A vitreous surgical apparatus in which an inner tubular blade is moved in an axis direction with respect to an outer tubular blade by supply and exhaust of compressed air to excise a part of a vitreous body in an eyeball and aspirate and discharge the excised part out of the eyeball, the apparatus including: a plurality of solenoid valves each of which is opened and closed for performing the supply and exhaust of the compressed air; and a control unit which synchronously drives the solenoid valves to open and close in order to move the inner tubular blade at a desired cutting speed.

Vitreous surgical apparatus

A irrigation/aspiration apparatus to be used in a cataractal operation comprises an irrigation fluid supply means for supplying an irrigation fluid contained in an irrigation bottle to the patient's eye, and an irrigation fluid aspirating means for aspirating, together with loosened tissues and the like, the irrigation fluid supplied into the patient's eye. The irrigation/aspiration apparatus is characterized by an irrigation flow rate varying means for varying the irrigation rate of the irrigation fluid at which the irrigation fluid supply means supplies the irrigation fluid, and an irrigation flow rate control means for controlling the irrigation flow rate varying means according to the operating condition of the irrigation fluid aspirating means to regulate the irrigation flow rate so that the variation of the pressure in the anterior chamber of the patient's eye is suppressed during the cataractal operation.

An irrigation and aspiration apparatus for cataract surgery or the like, which is particularly suitable for aspiration and removal of the cortex lentis during the surgical operation. As for the structure, the irrigation and aspiration apparatus of the present application includes a selector coupling to which ends of a plurality of aspiration tubes are connected, while the other ends of the aspiration tubes are respectively connected to handpieces which can perform aspiration, so that one of the handpieces for aspirating irrigating fluid and the like from a diseased eye of a patient can be chosen by switching the selector coupling. With this structure, aspiration and removal of the residual cortex after removal of the lens nucleus in the surgery of the crystalline lens can be accomplished easily and reliably, thereby relieving the doctor and the patient from the stress and load of the surgical operation.
