A drive device for a light-emitting element that improves accuracy while driving the light-emitting element at small currents for which a comparatively simple configuration is provided. The drive device includes detecting means, comparing means, a driving voltage source, and offset means. The detecting means detects a voltage corresponding to a current flowing through a first resistor for current detection. The first resistor is coupled to a light-emitting element in series. The comparing means compares a magnitude of the detection voltage of the detecting unit with a comparison voltage. The driving voltage source applies a voltage corresponding to a comparison result by the comparing means to a series circuit of the light-emitting element and the first resistor. The offset means corrects the voltage corresponding to a current flowing through the first resistor by a correction voltage.

Drive device for light-emitting element

Upon displaying a targeted stereoscopic image formed by a background image planar component and a spring-out image stereoscopic component, a stereoscopic display device controls and stereoscopically displays the spring-out image having a large parallax so that the amount of transmitted light of a light transmitting portion of a light control panel is T. Thereafter, the amount of transmitted light of the light transmitting portion of the light control panel is switched from Tto T, where Tis larger than T. The background image having a small parallax is displayed.

A display panel driving device and driving method for providing high quality images without irregular luminance even after long-time use. The value of the light-emission drive current flowing when causing each light-emission elements bearing each pixel to independently emit light in succession is measured, then the luminance is corrected for each input pixel data based on the above light-emission drive current values, associated with the pixels corresponding to the input pixel data. According to another aspect, the voltage value of the drive voltage is adjusted in such a manner that one value among each measured light-emission drive current value becomes equal to a predetermined reference current value. According to a further aspect, the current value is measured while an off-set current component corresponding to a leak current of the display panel is added to the current outputted from the drive voltage generator circuit and the resultant current is supplied to each of the pixel portions.

A drive unit which can prevent the decrease of the luminance of a self-luminous device due to degradation or a change is electric characteristic thereof. The drive unit has a semiconductor device having an electric characteristic almost the same as the that of the self-luminous device, and drives the semiconductor device in accordance with the frequency of light emission of the self-luminous device. The device generates a characteristic change detection signal indicating the degree of a change in an electric characteristic of the semiconductor device, and supplies the self-luminous device with a drive signal having a current level or a voltage level based on the characteristic change detection signal.

The apparatus sequentially selects one scanning line from the scanning lines every scanning period of input video data including a gradation level to specify a drive line corresponding to at least one capacitive light emitting element driven to emit light on the one scanning line in accordance with the input video data, generates a driving signal having a pulse width in accordance with the gradation level every scanning period, and applies the one capacitive light emitting element with a voltage equal to or higher than a light emission threshold voltage in a forward direction for a duration in which the driving signal is generated, through the one scanning line and the specified drive line, and applies the specified drive line with a predetermined potential in response to elimination of the driving signal to decrease the voltage applied to the one capacitive light emitting element in the forward direction to a voltage lower than the light emission threshold voltage.
