A rod clamp for securing a reel to a rod comprises a clamp member for contacting a reel seat of the rod, a plurality of tightening members for tightening the clamp member to a reel foot of the reel, thereby to fix the reel to the reel seat of the rod sandwiched between the clamp member and reel foot, and a plurality of supporting projections formed of a material different from the clamp member and extending toward the reel seat for contacting the reel seat as does the clamp member. The projections are formed of an elastic material, thereby positively to prevent the reel and rod clamp from moving relative to rod surfaces.

A baitcasting reel includes a clutch mechanism interposed between a spool and a handle, a clutch restoring device, and a checking device. The clutch restoring device is operable, when the handle is turned in a direction to wind up a fishing line with the clutch mechanism disengaged, for restoring the clutch mechanism to an engaged position. The checking device is switchable to prevent the clutch mechanism from being restored to the engaged position.

A two-bearing reel comprising a reel body formed of a synthetic resin, the reel body including a pair of cylindrical side frames opposed to and spaced from each other, and connecting rods rigidly interconnecting at least lower positions of the side frames, a spool rotatably supported between the side frames and including a pair of flanges opposed to and slightly spaced from inside walls of the side frames, and a pair of engaging members for engaging a suspender strap, the engaging members being arranged at upper positions of the reel body and spaced from each other in the direction in which the side frames are spaced from each other. The reel further comprises an upper connecting rod for rigidly interconnecting upper positions of the side frames, and a bridging member formed of a highly rigid material for covering the upper connecting rod and interconnecting the upper positions of the side frames.

A two-bearing reel comprises a first side plate and a second side plate opposed to each other, a spool shaft carrying a spool and rotatably supported between the first and second side plates, the spool shaft including an extension projecting outwardly from a bearing supported by the first side plate, a master gear driven by a handle, a pinion gear meshed with the master gear and slidably supported on the extension, and a clutch provided between the spool shaft and pinion gear. The clutch includes engaging projections provided on the spool shaft and engaging grooves provided on the pinion gear. The bearing has an inside portion secured to the spool shaft, and an outside portion supported to be movable relative to the first side plate.

A two-bearing reel comprises a first side plate and a second side plate opposed to each other, a spool shaft carrying a spool and rotatably supported between the first and second side plates, the spool shaft including an extension projecting outwardly from a first bearing supported by the first side plate, a master gear driven by a handle, a pinion gear meshed with the master gear and slidably supported on the extension, and a clutch provided between the spool shaft and pinion gear. The clutch includes engaging projections provided on the spool shaft and engaging grooves provided on the pinion gear. The first bearing defines passage grooves on inside surfaces thereof perpendicular to a direction in which a load acts on the spool shaft, for allowing passage of the engaging projections therethrough.

A fishing reel which includes a clutch lever for disengaging a clutch and a torsion spring for selectively biasing the clutch lever toward its forward movement position where the clutch is disengaged or its backward movement position where the clutch is engaged. The reel includes a return spring having a restoring force smaller than a biasing force of the torsion spring for the clutch lever at its forward movement position and biasing the clutch lever only in the restoring direction and a biasing force control mechanism for controlling the biasing force of the torsion spring for the clutch lever at its forward movement position to be reduced more than the restoring force of the return spring.

A drag adjusting device for a closed face type fishing reel including a reel body and a spool supported rotatably to the front thereof. A drag thumbscrew is provided for for setting an initial load of a drag brake member, and a drag lever is provided for adjusting in a predetermined range the initial load set by the drag thumbscrew.

A fishing reel wherein a spool is rotatably supported on a spool shaft mounted between first and second side frames. A cast-control member is supported on the second side frame and positioned at one axial side of the spool. The cast-control member is movable axially of the spool and has an operating portion operable outside the second side frame. A contact member has an annular contact portion for contacting the cast-control member. The contact member is held at an axial outer face of the spool such that the contact member does not rotate relative to the spool. When the cast-control member is moved axially with respect to the spool to contact the contact member, the cast-control member applies a rotation resisting force by means of the contact member to the spool with respect to free rotation thereof.

Fishing reel with friction and magnetic brakes

A fishing reel comprising a pair of side frames, a spool rotatably supported therebetween, and a drive mechanism having a handle and a drag mechanism. Rotary operating force of the handle can be transmitted to the spool through the drive mechanism. A tubular shaft which has an axis parallel to that of the spool supports a drag washer of the drag mechanism and a master gear of the drive mechanism. The tubular shaft is rotatably supported between the side frames. The handle shaft of the reel handle is selectively insertable into the tubular shaft at either end, so that the fishing reel having only one drive mechanism can be arranged in either left-handle type or right-handle type.

Fishing reel with reversible crank

A fishing reel is provided with a spool, a drive mechanism for driving the spool, a clutch mechanism for freely rotating the spool with respect to the drive mechanism, and a clutch operating mechanism for operating the clutch mechanism. A clutch lever at the clutch operating mechanism is supported to a second side frame opposite to a first side frame carrying a handle at the drive mechanism. When the operating member is pushed to move the clutch lever to the termination position of the forward movement for disconnecting the clutch mechanism, the finger tip of an angler's hand for operating the operating member is adapted to be positioned in the vicinity of the outer surface of the spool, thereby enabling the angler's finger to stop the rotation of the spool in continuation of the push operation of the operating member.

Fishing reel clutch actuator

A fishing reel which is so constructed that a spool shaft having a spool is journalled to a frame having first and second side plates opposite to each other at a regular interval, and a support shaft fixed to the first side plate supports a drive mechanism comprising a tubular shaft, main gear, drag mechanism and handle bar, so that the drive mechanism is driven to rotate the spool shaft. The tubular shaft rotatably supports a cylinder, which perforates at its axially outer end through an outer plate attached to the first side plate outwardly thereof, extends outwardly therefrom, and has at the axially inner portion an end plate, the cylinder being provided at its outer periphery with the main gear and housing a plurality of friction plates constituting the drag mechanism, the outer plate having an insertion bore larger enough to insert therethrough the cylinder, the support shaft being provided with a stopper to restrain the drive mechanism from moving axially outwardly with respect to the support shaft, so that the stopper is removed therefrom to make it possible to remove the drive mechanism from the frame without removing the outer plate therefrom.

At the rear of the rear cover is formed a guard portion extending rearwardly from the rear of the rear cover and surrounding the control lever except for the outer surface thereof.
