Using frequency characteristics determined for individual ones of a plurality of analyzed bands of a predetermined audio frequency range with frequency resolution that becomes finer in order of lowering frequencies of the analyzed bands, a synthesized band is set for each one or for each plurality of the analyzed bands, and then a time-axial response waveform is determined for each of the synthesized bands. The response waveforms of the synthesized bands are then added together to thereby provide a response waveform for the whole of the audio frequency range.

Response waveform synthesis method and apparatus

In an acoustic design support apparatus, a speaker selection supporter selects a desired speaker as a candidate for use in a given space based on shape information representing a shape of the space. A speaker mounting angle optimizer calculates an optimal mounting direction of the selected speaker by selecting a mounting direction pattern which minimizes a degree of variation among sound pressure levels at a plurality of positions on a sound receiving surface defined in the space. An acoustic parameter calculator calculates a variety of acoustic parameters at sound receiving points within the space based on both of the shape information of the space and the optimal mounting direction of the speaker.

Acoustic design support apparatus

A method is provided for designing an acoustic correction filter applicable to a stringed instrument, which is composed of a string member operable to undergo a vibration, a support member for supporting the string member, a body member responsive to the vibration transmitted through the support member for generating a natural sound and a mute attachment for muting the natural sound. The acoustic correction filter is operable when the natural sound is muted by the mute attachment for filtering a signal derived from the vibration so as to create an artificial sound instead of the muted natural sound. The method is carried out by the steps of acquiring a first sample signal from the vibration under a mute state, acquiring a second sample signal from the vibration under a free state, extracting a difference between the acquired first sample signal and the acquired second sample signal, and determining a correction characteristic of the acoustic correction filter based on the extracted difference such that the acoustic correction filter can filter the signal in accordance with the determined correction characteristic so as to create the artificial sound comparable to the natural sound.

Method of configurating acoustic correction filter for stringed instrument

A space surrounding a sound source (S) which is set in a sound field ( ) to be reproduced is divided into sound source element regions (S to Sn), and a space surrounding a sound receiving point (R) is divided into sound receiving element regions (R to Rm). An impulse response when a sound radiated from the sound source (S) is emitted from one of the sound source element regions (S to Sn), passes through the sound field ( ), enters one of the sound receiving element regions (R to Rm), and then reaches the sound receiving point (R) is obtained for each of combinations of the sound source element regions (S to Sn) and the sound receiving element regions (R to Rm). A sound emitted from a real sound source (Sr) in an arbitrary real space ( ) is picked up by microphones (MC to MCn) placed correspondingly with the sound source element regions (S to Sn). In an FIR matrix circuit ( ), the pickup signals are respectively subjected to a convolution operation with impulse responses which are obtained for each of the sound source element regions (S to Sn) in corresponding directions.
