A method of controlling a plurality of external devices is performed on a computer which is set up with a plurality of remote control processes corresponding to the plurality of the external devices, and a management process for managing the remote control processes while communicating with the remote control processes. The management process is called to display icons corresponding to the remote control processes in a display field provided by the management process. Further, the management process acts when a specified operation is applied to one of the icons on the display field for sending a screen open instruction to one of the remote control processes corresponding to the icon to which the specified operation is applied. The remote control process which receives the screen open instruction is activated to display a control screen for use in remotely controlling the corresponding external device.

Remote control method of external devices

An electronic music apparatus has a tone generator settable by setting information to generate a music tone signal and an open memory area accessible for storing identification information of the electronic music apparatus and setting information specific to the electronic music apparatus. The electronic music apparatus reads out the identification information from the open memory area and sends the read identification information to an editing apparatus, and receives setting information from the editing apparatus and writes the received setting information into the open memory area. Further, when the setting information is written into the open memory area, the written setting information is applied to the tone generator. The editing apparatus has a storage for storing the edited setting information in association with the identification information of each electronic music apparatus. The editing apparatus receives the identification information sent from the electronic music apparatus, identifies the electronic music apparatus which sends the identification information, locates the setting information stored in the storage in association with the received identification information, and sends the located setting information to the identified electronic music apparatus.

Editing apparatus of setting information for electronic music apparatuses

In generating tone waveform data for each fixed or variable section via software of a personal computer or the like, a generation start condition is changed depending on an application of the waveform data. When the waveform data is to be sounded in real time, various programs are activated in synchronism with predetermined cycles, such as tempo clock and frame cycles, in order to generate the waveform data at accurate timing. When, on the other hand, the waveform data is to be recorded in a waveform file, various programs are activated on condition that waveform data generation processing has already been completed for a preceding section. Such arrangements can eliminate limitations to processing times of the programs and thereby provide a tone waveform of high accuracy.

Waveform data generation method and apparatus capable of switching between real-time generation and non-real-time generation

Integrated software tone generator is made up of software of a software tone generator driver and software of a plurality of modules, such as a tone generator module, registered in the driver for executing generation and/or processing of a waveform. A property sheet is displayed as a setting screen to make various settings for the integrated software tone generator via respective windows. In the property sheet, there are displayed a tab for selecting a common setting mode and tabs for individually selecting one of individual modules, and a dialog box corresponding to one of the tabs which is selected by a user's click operation is opened and displayed. When the dialog box for the common setting is opened, there is displayed a menu of predetermined common setting items shareable by the plurality of modules, and settings are made for the common setting items by a user doing a desired input to the menu. When, on the other hand, the dialog box for setting one particular module is opened, there is displayed a menu of predetermined items peculiar to the particular module, and settings are made for the peculiar items by the user doing a desired input to the menu.

Setting method and device for waveform generator with a plurality of waveform generating modules

A digital signal processor (i.e., DSP) is employed by an electronic musical instrument. The contents of operational processes to be executed by the DSP can be arbitrarily set in accordance with filtering operations of the filters to be realized. A processing device to be embodied by the DSP at least contains a microprogram memory, a coefficient register, a delay memory and a processing portion. A desired set of coefficients are read from the coefficient register in accordance with a first address signal, while a desired program is read from the microprogram memory in accordance with a second address signal. Each program contains at least one operational command or one instruction. The value of each of the first and second address signals is periodically changed in each sampling period. During a writing operation of the delay memory, results of the operational processes effected by the processing portion are written into the delay memory, while the processing portion effects the operational processes on the musical tone signals, sequentially inputted thereto, in accordance with the desired program to be repeatedly executed for the desired set of coefficients. When a reading operation of the delay memory is designated, the processing portion effects the operational processes on data read from the delay memory. Thus, the processing device can perform the pipeline processing effectively on plural series of musical tone signals with a reduced storage capacity of the microprogram memory.
