A shock absorbing steering device for vehicle includes an intermediate shaft that couples a steering shaft and a steering gear. The intermediate shaft includes a hollow accordion portion allowed to undergo plastic deformation. The accordion portion has plural pairs of crest portions and trough portions disposed alternately in an axial direction. At least in a part of the accordion portion in the axial direction, a depth from apexes of the crest portions to bottoms of the trough portions includes a first depth corresponding to a part of the accordion portion in a circumferential direction and a second depth corresponding to a rest part of the accordion portion in the circumferential direction. The first depth and the second depth are different from each other.

Shock absorbing steering device for vehicle

A worm wheel includes an annular metallic core portion and a resin rim portion which is fitted on an outer circumference of the core portion. The rim portion includes an annular main body portion which covers the outer circumference of the core portion and in which a toothed portion is formed on an outer circumference thereof and a pair of annular flanges which are made to extend from the main body portion in a radially inward direction X to thereby cover, respectively, outer edge portions of first and second sides of the core portion. The first annular flangeengages with a recess formed in the corresponding side of the core portion. A bottom portion of the recess includes an undercut portion in relation to a radially outward direction.

The support body engaged with the interior side of the tooth body provided at the worm wheel of the electric power steering apparatus comprises: a corrugated cylinder part press-formed to have a plurality of concavities on the exterior side thereof and convexities to the interior formed by the concavities which are arranged in a peripheral direction; and a plate part an exterior edge of which is united with an end of the corrugated cylinder part, wherein the tooth body is engaged with the exterior side of the corrugated cylinder part. With the method of manufacturing the gear, synthetic resin of the tooth body can be deposited uniformly on the support body made of metal engaged with the interior of the tooth body, costs can be reduced, and the support body can be engaged with the tooth body without generating voids and weld marks.

Electric power steering apparatus and method of manufacturing gear used therefor

The support body engaged with the interior side of the tooth body provided at the worm wheel of the electric power steering apparatus comprises: a corrugates cylinder part-press-formed to have a plurality of concavities on the exterior side thereof and convexities to the interior formed by the concavities which are arranged in a peripheral direction; and a plate part an exterior edge of which is united with an end of the corrugated cylinder part, wherein the tooth body is engaged with the exterior side of the corrugated cylinder part. In an electric power steering device, a driven gear of a deceleration gear mechanism for transmitting rotation of an electric actuator for generating auxiliary steering power has a gear body made of a synthetic resin material. At least the outer periphery of a metal core ring is covered by the gear body. The gear body is molded and integrated with the core ring by injecting synthetic resin material into a mold, in which the core ring is inserted. A plurality of teeth, each of which has faces which run in the direction of the axis of rotation of the driven gear, are formed on the outer periphery of the core ring so as to be arranged at intervals in a circumferential direction. The synthetic resin material that constitutes the gear body is filled in the spaces between the teeth of the core ring.

Electric power steering device

A four-wheel steering apparatus comprising a front wheel steering device having a front-wheel steering bar movable for steering front wheels, and a rear-wheel steering device having a rear-wheel steering bar mechanically separated from the front-wheel steering device and movable for steering rear wheels. The latter device has a rear-wheel steering bar drive assembly for moving the rear-wheel steering bar, and a rear-wheel steering control system for controlling the drive assembly in accordance with the steering amount of the front wheels to thereby control the amount of movement of the rear-wheel steering bar and control the steering amount of the rear wheels. The rear-wheel steering device comprises a maximum steering amount regulating assembly having a variably regulating member capable of mechanically restricting the maximum amount of movement of the rear-wheel steering bar and adjusting the maximum amount of movement. The maximum amount of movement of the rear-wheel steering bar to be mechanically restricted by the variably regulating member decreases as the vehicle speed increases.

Apparatus for controlling a steering force of a handle in an automobile having a power steering system in which a driving shaft of an auxiliary fluid pump for obtaining pressure oil for a hydraulic reaction chamber of the power steering system is made common to a driving shaft of a fluid pump for the power steering system to increase a quantity of discharge and oil pressure of the auxiliary pump. Oil pressure with respect to the hydraulic reaction chamber is controlled by the speed and steering angle of the automobile to obtain a proper steering force.
