An inflator assembly that has a shorter entire length and can be manufactured easily. The inflator assembly includes a pipe, a piston holder, first and second pipe holding plates, a bracket, and an inflator casing. The pipe is inserted through a pipe through hole in the base of the piston holder, through pipe through holes in the pipe holding plates, and through a spacer ring. The base of the piston holder, the spacer ring, and the pipe holding plates are clamped together between first and second flanges of the pipe. The inflator casing is fitted around the outer periphery of a rear end portions of the pipe and has an inward flange that is clamped and fixed between the first and second flanges of the pipe. Second and third flanges are formed by deforming portions of the pipe to have a larger diameter.

Inflator assembly

An air belt that includes a bag-shaped mesh webbing, a bag inserted into the mesh webbing, and a tube shaped mesh cover which covers the mesh webbing. The mesh cover includes warp yarn, weft yarn, and an connected part formed by connecting the weft yarn with an entanglement-thread at a hem. The entanglement-thread of the connected part breaks due the force of the bag expanding so that the bag and the mesh webbing expand further than the cover. The thickness of the cover is uniform across its width, resulting in a uniform bending strength of the mesh cover between the left and right hems and providing comfort to the wearer.

Air belt for inflatable seat belt device

A webbing insertion member is formed of a metal body having a through opening with an edge, a slip piece attached to the edge of the through opening for allowing a webbing to pass through the through opening above the slip piece, and a molding resin for fixing the slip piece to the metal body. A first engaging member is formed on one of the metal body and the slip piece, and a second engaging member is formed on the other of the metal body and the slip piece and engages the first engaging member so that the slip piece is securely engaged with the metal body.

Webbing insertion member

To provide an air belt that maintains a flat belt like state, enables passage through an anchor and direct winding to a retractor, and has satisfactory comfort. An air belt includes a bag, a tubular mesh webbing made of a fabric or a textile, and a hollow cover accommodating the mesh webbing. The mesh webbing expands and contracts flexibly in the lateral direction but resists stretching in the longitudinal direction. The hardness of the cover in the lateral direction is greater than the hardness in the longitudinal direction, and the cover bends flexibly in the longitudinal direction but resists bending in the lateral direction. The cover, which is flat and tubular, is formed by longitudinally folding a flat, long sheet along a folding line and seaming the longitudinal sides with a thread, the thread is broken when the bag is inflated.

Air belt and air belt apparatus

To provide a seat belt component having a molded resin surface in which the burr formed by the resin is less conspicuous or eliminated. The seat belt component could be a shoulder anchor and have the added benefit of allowing the seat belt to slide smoothly therethrough. An externally formed structural element is formed on the metal surface to prevent further flow of the synthetic resin.

Resin covered components of a seat belt

An airbelt to be guided by a through-anchor member is formed of a hollow elongated cover, and a bag disposed in the cover to be inflatable by a gas introduced therein. The cover has an inner-peripheral panel on one side to contact the through-anchor member, and an outer-peripheral panel on the other side thereof. At least one of the inner-peripheral panel and the outer-peripheral panel changes a length thereof in the longitudinal direction of the airbelt when the airbelt is guided by and curved along the through-anchor member. Thus, the airbelt can be smoothly guided by the through-anchor or a buckle.

Airbelt and airbelt apparatus

A webbing insertion member is formed of a body having a through opening for allowing a webbing to pass therethrough, and a slide portion formed on at least one side of the through opening. The slide portion has a rough portion substantially contacting the webbing to reduce a sliding area with the webbing. A friction reducing material is formed on the rough portion for allowing the webbing to slide easily and smoothly on the rough portion.

A shoulder anchor used in a seat belt device for guiding a webbing is formed of an insertion metal member having a guide hole for allowing the webbing to pass therethrough, and a resin molded portion molded on at least a predetermined area of the insertion metal member. The resin molded portion includes a guide portion for guiding the webbing and a shrinkage absorbing portion disposed in a part of the guide portion for absorbing shrinkage or reducing residual stress of a resin of the resin molded portion. By providing the cut-out portion, shrinkage of the resin during molding can be effectively absorbed, thereby improving appearance of the resin molding.

Shoulder anchor for seat belt device

A webbing insertion member for a seat belt is formed of a body having a through opening for allowing a webbing to pass therethrough, a slide portion formed on at least one side of the through opening to substantially contact the webbing, and a friction reducing material formed on the slide portion of the through opening for allowing the webbing to slide easily. Thus, efficiency of sliding of the webbing is improved significantly, to thereby reduce the failure of winding of the webbing into a retractor and facilitate withdrawal and winding of the webbing.

A seat belt retractor is formed of a base frame, a reel shaft rotatably supported by the base frame, a locking member for locking rotation of the reel shaft to prevent the webbing from unwinding at a collision, and an energy absorbing member for absorbing impact energy against a vehicle occupant. The energy absorbing member allows a predetermined length of the webbing to be drawn out with a certain tensile load held on the webbing only when reaction forces acting on the locking member exceed a predetermined threshold.
