A changing device easily and safely changes the posture of the backstop of a crane between a support posture and a storage posture. The backstop posture changing device is provided with a first support member, a second support member, a push-up mechanism, and a connection member. The first support member and the second support member are rotationally connected to a backstop and a lower boom respectively. When a cylinder rod of the push-up mechanism is extended with respect to a cylinder body, a push-up member pushes up the first support member and the posture of the backstop is changed from a storage posture on the lower boom to a support posture in which it is possible to support a boom while the crane is in a working posture.

An analog-to-digital (A/D) converting device which substantially increases the number of input channels without increasing the number of input terminals. When an external channel selecting circuit is asserted 'low', switches are selected to deliver a 3-bit control word to a decode circuit. The decode circuit delivers a corresponding analog signal to a multiplexer in accordance with the control word. An A/D converter converts the analog signal to a digital signal. When the external channel selecting circuit is asserted 'high', switches deliver a 3-bit channel control word to an output terminal. Simultaneously, the 'high' signal from the external channel selecting circuit is applied to an OR gate, which in turn is applied to a multiplexer. An externally inputted analog signal is also applied to the multiplexer. The inputted analog signal is applied to an A/D converter, via the multiplexer, and the analog signal is converted to a digital signal. Therefore, since the device can process an analog signal input through an external channel input terminal selected by the channel control word and then the predetermined analog input terminal, it makes it possible to substantially increase the number of analog input channels without increasing the number of the built-in analog input terminals.

An analog-to-digital (A-D) conversion device includes a channel selector for selecting a plurality of analog signal input terminals. The analog-to-digital converter converts an analog signal selected and supplied by the channel selector into a digital signal. A control device controls the channel selector to operate in either a scan mode in response to a starting trigger for scan conversion or a single mode in response to receiving a starting trigger for single conversion.

A timer has a function of compensation calculation and includes a compensation value register 1 for holding a compensation value and an arithmetic unit 2 which adds or subtracts a compensation value '.alpha.' held in the compensation value register 1 and a value 'CC' of a count value C of a counter 3 at that time point, and by loading the operation result of the arithmetic unit 2 to the counter 3. Such a timer reduces a burden on a CPU and is capable of compensating the count value correctly regardless of a remaining time.
