A propylenic polymer according to the present invention or a composition thereof have an excellent melt flowability and contains a less amount of stickiness-causing components, and also has a low modulus and is pliable, and is capable of providing a transparent molded article, thus being useful as a substitute for a pliable vinyl chloride resin. In addition, a molded article made therefrom exhibits an excellent heat seal performance at a low temperature, and is excellent in terms of transparency and rigidity. Specifically, it has an isotactic pentad fraction (mmmm), which indicates a stereoregulariry, of 30 to 80%, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.5 or less and an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 0.8 to 5 dl/g.

A process for producing a propylene-ethylene block copolymer in a good morphology using a catalyst system comprising a metallocene catalyst (1) preparing high crystalline polypropylene, a metallocene catalyst (2) preparing low crystalline polypropylene, a porous carrier (3), aluminoxane (4) or a compound (4) which can be reacted with the metallocene catalysts described above to form an ionic complex and, if necessary, an organic aluminum compound (5) and a propylene-ethylene block copolymer. The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by contacting a magnesium compound having a specific particle size distribution index (P), a titanium compound and an electron donor compound with each other, (B) an organometallic compound, and (C) an electron donor. The olefin polymerization method comprises polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the catalyst to give olefin polymers.

The propylene polymer of the invention is transparent and has good low-temperature heat-sealability and scratch resistance, and is favorable to wrapping and packaging films. (1) The polymer has a melting point, Tm (&deg; C.), measured through differential scanning calorimetry, of 110&lE;Tm&lE;140; (2) its heat of fusion &Dgr;H (J/g) and melting point Tm (&deg; C.) satisfy &Dgr;H&gE;0.45&times;Tm&plus;22; (3) the half-value width Th (&deg; C.) of the peak top of its elution curve obtained in programmed-temperature fractionation is Th&lE;5; and (4) its intrinsic viscosity &lsqb;&eegr;&rsqb; (dl/g) measured in a solvent of tetralin at 135&deg; C. falls between 0.5 and 5.

The polypropylene film of the present invention satisfies the relationship: TM&gE;12.5&times;HST&minus;900, wherein TM is a tensile modulus (MPa) and HST is a heat seal temperature (&deg; C.), and is well-balanced between the tensile modulus and the heat seal temperature, less tacky, and excellent in processability, transparency and impact resistance. The polypropylene film may be produced from a propylene polymer (A) having: (1) a melting point (Tm) of from 120 to 135&deg; C. as measured by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC); (2) a melting endotherm &Dgr;H (J/g) as measured by the DSC, satisfying the following formula: &Dgr;H&gE;0.45&times;Tm&plus;22; (3) a peak top half-width (Th) of 5&deg; C. or lower when measured on an elution curve by temperature rising fractionation; and (4) an intrinsic viscosity &lsqb;&eegr;&rsqb; of from 1 to 3 dl/g as measured at 135&deg; C. in tetralin. A multilayered polyolefin resin laminate of the present invention comprises at least one outermost layer made of the above polypropylene film, and is well-balanced between a tensile modulus and a heat seal temperature, less tacky and excellent in slipping and anti-blocking properties.

A propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene and an &agr;-olefin with at least 4 carbon atoms, which is produced through polymerization in the presence of a metallocene catalyst and which has an increased isotactic pentad fraction and a reduced molecular weight distribution; and also a propylene-based polymer composition as prepared by adding a nucleating agent to the homopolymer or the copolymer are superior to conventional polymers and polymer compositions, as they have well-balanced toughness and heat-sealability, and are not sticky, and, in addition, they have excellent anti-blocking properties. Their films especially those for wrapping and packaging edibles are tough and have excellent anti-blocking properties, and high film impact resistance. The polymer and the polymer composition have good moldability.
