A simultaneous cassette withdrawal restriction mechanism for use with an image forming apparatus provided with a plurality of cassettes includes a projection provided on each cassette; a connecting rod; and an engageable member which is adapted for engaging with the corresponding projection, the connecting rod is integrally formed with the engageable members. The engageable member is selectively changeable with its posture between a first posture to restrict the withdrawal movements of the cassettes other than one which had been already withdrawn out of a main body of the image forming apparatus and a second posture to allow one of the cassettes to be withdrawn once the one having been withdrawn is returned to the main body of the image forming apparatus.

A focusing lens 24 is held with a holder 27. A mounting plate 28, and a coupling plate 29 are provided between the holder 27 and the base member 26 of an optical system 10. In one of three combinations of the holder 27 and the mounting plate 28, the latter 28 and the coupling plate 29, and the latter 29 and the base member 26, those forming the combination are set in such a manner as to be movable relative to each other for adjustment of the length of an optical path of the focusing lens; in another of the three combinations, those forming the combination are set in such a manner that the components are movable relative to each other for adjustment of the optical axis of the focusing lens; and in the remaining combination, those forming the remaining combination are fixed in such a manner as to be movable relative to each other for adjustment of the resolving power balance of the focusing lens.

Opposite surfaces or sides of a mirror in an optical system are supported in a spring-biased manner at three points in total. This prevents a shift in position of the mirror that otherwise might occur due to shocks during reciprocal movement of the optical system.

Mirror-holding device

An optical system driving device has a motor which rotates constantly in one direction for providing rotary driving power. A regular rotation electromagnetic clutch is connected to the rotating motor for transmitting driving power to the optical system for reciprocal movement of the optical system in one direction. A reverse electromagnetic clutch connected to the rotor motor transmits driving power to the optical system for reciprocal movement thereof in the opposite direction. A control circuit is provided which receives a pulse signal for controlling either the regular rotation or the reverse electromagnetic clutch at the start of the regular rotation electromagnetic clutch to gradually increase the effective driving power provided to the optical system to move the optical system at the start of movement.

A motor with a decelerating apparatus includes a motor, a gear box connected to the motor, a pinion gear attached to an end of an output shaft of the motor, two or more decelerating gears engaging with the pinion gear, a rotation shaft connected to each of the decelerating gears as a unity, a bearing for supporting the rotation shaft of each of the decelerating gears provided in the gear box, and a mounting unit for fixing the gear box to a load, an output terminal of the rotation shaft of each of the decelerating gears being connected to a rotating load, the gear box comprising a bearing for supporting a rotation shaft of a first decelerating gear which engages with the pinion gear and a bearing for supporting a rotation shaft of a second decelerating gear which engages with the pinion gear and is different from the first decelerating gear in the number of teeth, the mounting unit connecting the output terminal of the rotation shaft of either of the first and second decelerating gears to the rotating load, and the gear box selectively having either of the first and second decelerating gears to vary a decelerating rate.

Motor with decelerating apparatus

An apparatus for manually sending a sheet of paper to the sheet handling machine (i.e., a feeding mechanism inside of a copying machine or printer) equipped with an automatic sheet-feeding cassette. The sheet sending apparatus is composed of an upper chute and a lower chute articulated by gears. When the apparatus is used, the chutes make a flat angle to smoothly pass a sheet to the feed roller and the lower chute press down the stacked sheets of the sheet cassette. When the apparatus is not used, the chutes rotate and the lower chute leaves the feed roller. A sheet guide is attached at the lower end of the lower chute to prevent the sheet sliding on the chutes from falling in the sheet cassette, and the parts of the sheet guide corresponding to the separator of the sheet cassette is removed to allow natural flipping action of the sheet when the sheet is drawn out of the sheet cassette.

An electrophotographic copying machine developer vessel includes a vessel proper having a closed top, a barrel and a tapered inclined portion continuous to the barrel. The developer vessel also includes a receiving plate removably attachable to the vessel proper, the receiving plate having a substantially flat supporting surface, substantially straight two side edges for attachment to the developing device and an opening communicating with the vessel proper. An opening tab composed of a film which covers the opening of the receiving plate is peelably bonded to the flat supporting surface thereof. A shutter is provided which includes a plate having, on both the sides thereof, engagement portions to be engaged with both the side edges of the receiving plate. The shutter may engage the receiving plate of the developer vessel such that when the developer vessel is removed from a copying machine, the presence of the shutter thereunder prevents scattering of developer in the environment.

Disclosed is a magnetic brush development method comprising supplying a two-component type developer comprising a mixture of magnetic carrier particles with toner particles chargeable by friction with the magnetic carrier particles onto a developing sleeve consisting of a non-magnetic sleeve having a magnet installed therein to form a magnetic brush of the developer, and bringing the magnetic brush in sliding contact with the surface of a photosensitive material having an electrostatic latent image formed thereon in the state where a bias voltage is applied between the photosensitive material and the sleeve, whereby a toner image corresponding to the electrostatic latent image is formed, wherein the two-component type developer comprises a ferrite carrier and electroscopic toner particles at a weight ratio of from 4/1 to 20/1.

Magnetic brush development method

Disclosed is a photosensitive plate for electrophotography, which comprises a conductive substrate and a layer of a composition formed by dispersing a photoconductor in a binder resin, which is formed on the substrate, wherein the resin binder comprises an epoxy resin component and an amine type curing agent component and the resin binder further comprises an acid anhydride as the ozone deterioration preventing agent. This photosensitive plate is excellent in the ozone resistance and the moisture resistance.

Disclosed is a photosensitive material for electrophotography comprising a conductive substrate and a layer of a composition comprising a dispersion of a photoconductive pigment in a binder resin, which is formed on the conductive substrate, wherein a (dialkypyrophosphato) organic titanate is incorporated into said composition. This photosensitive material is excellent in the ozone resistance and the moisture resistance.

A photosensitive paper for electrophotography comprising a paper substrate, an electrophotographic photosensitive layer formed on one surface of the substrate and an electrically conductive coating layer formed on the other surface of the substrate, which electrically conductive coating layer comprises an electrically conductive binder medium and a fine powder of a fluorine resin distributed predominantly in the surface portion of the electrically conductive coating layer, is disclosed. This photosensitive paper is satisfactory in all of the following properties; adaptability to the paper feeding operation, the scratch resistance of the photosensitive layer, the blocking resistance and electric characteristics irrespective of the humidity conditions in the operation atmosphere.
