Disclosed is a two-needle sewing machine that improves strength in a convex curve part by bringing a pair of stitches close together when sewing an item. A two-needle sewing machine includes a bed part; a column part; an arm part; a needle shaft that is disposed on the leading part of the arm part; two sewing needles that are attached to the needle shaft; two horizontal hooks that catch the respective needle thread loops of the two sewing needles; and a conveyor member that conveys a material to be sewn in a direction approximately orthogonal to the bed part. On the two-needle sewing machine, the sewing needle, which is positioned in a location distant from the column part, is disposed closer to the conveyance side of the material to be sewn than the sewing needle that is positioned in a location closer to the column part.

To provide a seam of attractive appearance in which tightening force is increased and raveling are prevented drastically. A sewing machine includes a base, a sewing device installed on this base to sew material, and a pair of material setting/transfer assemblies provided on the base. The invention relates to a sewing device which includes a sewing machine fixedly provided on a horizontal top surface of a bench, a fabric transfer mechanism for holding and making a fabric movable on the tip surface of the bench between a first position and a second position with a machine sewing portion being interposed therebetween and a pulse motor interlocked with the fabric transfer mechanism to move the mechanism. The machine sewing is performed during the movement of the fabric transfer mechanism from the first position to the second position. The device further includes a memory portion for storing length data of a plurality of seam lines to be stitched on the fabrics, the seam lines being different in length from one another. The device also includes a controller storing instruction data for driving a pulse motor by pulse numbers necessary for reciprocating the fabric transfer mechanism between the first and the second positions, repeating the length data of the memory portion based on the order data in association with the movement of the fabric transfer mechanism from the second position to the first position, and driving and stopping the sewing machine during a time period suitable for forming the seam lines in accordance with the length data during the movement of the fabric transfer mechanism from the first position to the second position.
