The invention provides a retardation film, composed primarily of an acrylic polymer, with transparency, heat resistance, and large retardation. The retardation film of the present invention is composed primarily of an acrylic polymer. The film has an in-plane retardation of from 130 nm to 500 nm, inclusive, per 100 &#x3bc;m thickness at a wavelength of 589 nm. The film has a total light transmittance of not less than 85%. The retardation film has a glass transition temperature of preferably from 110&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C., inclusive. The acrylic polymer, which is the primary component, preferably has a lactone ring structure.

The present invention provides a production process for a transparent heat-resistant resin, and further, a transparent heat-resistant resin and uses therefor, wherein the production process involves high dealcoholation conversion and a low content of residual volatiles in the resultant resin, and therefore can prevent foam or silver streak from occurring in the molded product, and further, facilitates melt-molding such as injection molding, and is fit for industrial production, and involves good efficiency. The production process for a transparent heat-resistant resin comprises the step of running a dealcoholation reaction of a polymer having a hydroxyl group and an ester group in its molecular chain to introduce a lactone ring structure into the polymer to obtain a transparent resin having the heat resistance, and is characterized in that the dealcoholation reaction is run in the presence of a solvent, and further characterized by further comprising a devolatilization step which is carried out jointly with the dealcoholation reaction.

Production process and use for transparent heat-resistant resin

The present invention provides: a photosensitive resin composition, which can form uniform coating films having higher coating film strength without causing surface contamination, decrease of evenness of coating films, decrease of film thickness, and coloring by decomposition in heat treatment of subsequent steps, and has good sensitivity of exposure. The photosensitive resin composition comprises a lactone-ring-containing polymer (A) as an essential component, wherein: the lactone-ring-containing polymer (A) is obtained by carrying out polymerization of comonomers and lactonization at the same time wherein the comonomers include a 2-(hydroxyalkyl)acrylate ester and an acidic-group-containing monomer; and the lactone-ring-containing polymer (A) is obtained by almost quantitatively carrying out lactonization of a 2-(hydroxyalkyl)acrylate ester structural unit.
