A battery mounting structure for use on saddle-type electric vehicles which contributes to an increase in the rigidity of a vehicle body frame and attempts to achieve an increased battery carrying capability. Each of battery modules is in the form of a quadrangular prism having long sides and short sides as viewed in plan and vertical sides longer than the long sides. A vehicle frame includes a bulging region in which each of main frames bulges outwardly from a head pipe as viewed in plan and a narrow region in which the distance between the main frames is reduced behind the bulging region. The battery modules include battery modules whose long sides extend along transverse directions of the vehicle in the bulging region and battery modules whose long sides extend along longitudinal directions of the vehicle in the narrow region.

Battery mounting structure for saddle-type electric vehicles

To provide an exhaust pipe structure in which the length of the exhaust pipe can be elongated while the total dimension is restricted. Provided is an exhaust pipe structure which includes an upstream-side exhaust pipe connected to exhaust ports of an engine. An exhaust chamber is provided which has an exhaust-gas inlet and an exhaust-gas outlet, and in which the upstream-side exhaust pipe is connected to the exhaust-gas inlet. In addition, the exhaust pipe structure includes a downstream-side exhaust pipe which is connected to the exhaust-gas outlet and which extends in such a direction as to move away from the exhaust ports. In the exhaust pipe structure, the exhaust-gas inlet is formed at a position farther away from the exhaust ports than the exhaust-gas outlet is positioned.

Exhaust pipe structure

An object of the invention is to improve the motorcycle radiator arranging construction with a view to improving the external appearance characteristic of a motorcycle. In a motorcycle having a water-cooled engineinstalled thereon, a radiatoris arranged erect in a spacedefined between the engineand a rear wheelin such a manner that a front surfacethereof is directed in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is supported on a body frame, whereby the radiatoris made difficult to see from the outside compared with a case where the radiator is arranged at the front of the body frame to thereby make conspicuous, for example, the design of the engine.

Motorcycle radiator arranging construction

In a frame structure of a small vehicle, an abutting surface abutting against a first frame member is provided on a second frame member constituting a part of a vehicle frame together with the first frame member. The second frame member is welded to the first frame member by an outer periphery of the abutting surface. The two frame members constituting a part of the vehicle frame are also welded together by the outer periphery of the abutting surface formed on the second frame member so as to abut against the first frame member. This achieves a decrease in the size and weight of the second frame member while sufficiently ensuring joining strength thereof. An opening portion open to an abutting surface is provided in a second frame member to expose a part of a first frame member. The second frame member is welded to the first frame member by a periphery of the opening portion.

Frame structure of small vehicle

To reduce the number of component parts for supporting an air cleaner and facilitate the assembly work of the air cleaner in a V-type engine having part of an air intake device including the air cleaner arranged between a pair of banks. The air cleaner arranged on the side of the two banks is supported by cleaner supporting units integrally provided in the cylinder blocks or the cylinder heads in the two banks.

A radiator support structure in which in case a radiator is supported in a housed state between down pipes, the effective area of the radiator can be increased. A radiator is supported in a housed state between down pipes branched in two directions from a head pipe and extended downward. An upper part support is provided on the upper surface of the radiator, a lower part support is provided on the lower surface of the radiator, and the radiator is supported by the down pipes via the upper part support and the lower part support.

Radiator support structure

A muffler is connected to a pair of exhaust pipes extending from each cylinder of a multi-cylinder engine. The muffler assures easier assembling work and provides independent exhaust sound for each cylinder. The muffler includes a forward and a rearward expansion chamber within the inside thereof. The expansion chambers are separated in the longitudinal direction by a separation wall extending across the muffler. The exhaust pipe connected to the forward cylinder of a V-type two-cylinder engine is inserted into the forward expansion chamber, while the exhaust pipe connected to the rear cylinder is inserted into the rearward expansion chamber.

Muffler for motorcycle

A small-sized muffler having porous partition walls includes a first expansion chamber, a second expansion chamber, a third expansion chamber and a fourth expansion chamber. A first porous partition wall is longitudinally arranged within the third expansion chamber so as to define a fifth expansion chamber. Similarly, a second porous partition wall is longitudinally arranged within the first expansion chamber so as to define the sixth expansion chamber. The first porous partition wall and the second porous partition wall are provided with small holes over their entire surface. The first porous partition wall and the second porous partition wall are each formed as a convexly curved surface curved toward the center of the muffler around the first feeding pipe and the second feeding pipe, respectively.

Muffler device

An air intake apparatus is mounted on a motorcycle provided with a V-type engine having a front cylinder and a rear cylinder. Carburetors are provide for the respective cylinders, and a sub-chamber is interposed between an air cleaner and the side of the engine. Communication tubes for feeding air from the air cleaner to the respective carburetors are disposed inwardly of the air cleaner in the width direction of the motorcycle body and outwardly of the carburetors in the width direction of the motorcycle body. The sub-chamber is extended downward, and the communication tube extending from one of the carburetors is connected projectedly into the sub-chamber. In this way, the volume of a sub-chamber is secured and the air intake characteristics of a plurality of communication tubes for air intake are equalized by equalizing the length of the communication tubes.
