An air conditioner and a control software updating system capable of easily updating and adding control software desired by a customer. An internet system including telephones and/or personal computers is provided between a service center and customers. Each of air conditioners is provided with a connection terminal for connection to a communication terminal. Software for controlling operation of the air conditioner is updated by using the internet or a memory card after explaining a control software to the customer and confirming the customer's desire.

In an electromotive compressor of an air-conditioner for use in an automobile, an interior space of a container of a compressor is divided into a space including a compression mechanism portion and an electric motor portion, and an oil storage space, wherein an oil passage is provided in a lower portion while a partition having a gas passage in an upper portion thereof, and a gas emission pipe is provided in one of the two (2) spaces at the oil storage portion side, being divided by the partition plate, while an oil supply pipe in the other, thereby making an opening of the oil supply pipe dipped within the lubricating oil even when a car declines.

An air-conditioning apparatus, being able to download operation control information through a network, wherein a remote controller of the air-conditioner is structured, so that it can indicate the operation information download, and is provided a function of indicating an operation under the operation mode upon the basis of that operation information to the air-conditioner. And also, a function is provided for inhibiting transmission of the information between the network, thereby obtaining an improvement on operability after downloading, as well as, an improvement on operability during the download operation, and also protection from erroneous operation(s) caused due to being connected to the network.

Air-conditioning apparatus

An air conditioner having a defrosting mode of operation is disclosed, in which an outdoor heat exchanger is divided into two heat exchanger units juxtaposed in tandem with each other along the direction of air passage. In defrosting mode, a part of the refrigerant from the compressor is supplied to the upstream outdoor heat exchanger unit deposited with frost, and the rest of the high-temperature high-pressure refrigerant is supplied to the indoor heat exchanger to maintain the room temperature.
