A bill counter comprises a case body formed to be a size which can be carried; a display section provided on the surface of the case body; an insertion port provided on one side of the case body which is capable of being expanded/contracted; a taking-out port provided on the other side of the case body; a first feeding-out device which is provided on the insertion port side within the case body and feeds out bills in a bundle inserted to the insertion port by a few sheets; a second feeding-out device which is provided on the taking-out port side within the case body and feeds out bills one by one fed out by the first feeding-out device; a driving section which drives simultaneously the first and the second feeding-out devices; an identifying sensor which identifies bills going toward the taking-out port; and a control section which outputs a signal displaying the number of sheets by unit of each bill and the total amount at least to said display section based on the signal from the identifying sensor and a signal which stops the operation of the driving section when a forged bill is detected.

The present invention is an improved database system for reducing the wait time for database processing programs. This data system provides for the input/output of blocks of data in excess of the capacity of the buffer pool assigned to the database processing program. When a database processing program tries to refer to the same block as one already under update processing by another database processing program or tries to update the same block as one already under update processing by another data processing program, the system allows a reference or update without placing the database processing system in the waiting state.

System for secondary database data block buffering with block save

In a data base system including a data base section for memorizing a plurality of data blocks and a buffer memory for memorizing a selected one of the data blocks as a buffered data block. The data base section includes a first memory unit for a first selected one of the data blocks as a first data block. Supplied with a search request signal which specifies a specific data block, a control unit transfers the first data block to the buffer memory when the specific data block is not present in the buffer memory but is present in the first memory unit. When the specific data block is also not present in the first memory unit, a reading unit reads the specific data block from the data base section and transfers the specific data block to the first memory unit under control of the control section. A copying unit transfers the specific data block to the buffer memory also under control of the control unit. Furthermore, the specific data block may be renewed into a renewal data block which is memorized in the buffer memory. The copying unit transfers the renewal data block to a second memory unit under control of the control unit. The control unit exchanges the specific data block for the renewal data block. Thereafter, the renewal and the specific data blocks are stored in the first and the second memory units, respectively.
