According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a light source, and at least one light distribution control member configured to control distribution of light from the light source. The light distribution control member includes a base member higher in refractive index than air, and two optical control layers located opposite each other with a predetermined space therebetween on either side of the base member. The two optical control layers each includes a first region and a second region formed in correlative patterns. The light distribution control member is configured to control the light distribution based on a change of an overlap between the first and second regions depending on a direction of transmitted light.

Lighting device

According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a base member, a light source on the base member, a light-transmitting cover configured to cover the light source and to emit light emitted from the light source to the outside, and a light guide body provided opposite the light source and configured to guide, to the rear of the light source, at least part of the light from the light source. The cover includes a back light-transmitting region having a plane-normal line directed rearwardly. The light guide body includes a light-incident portion facing the light source and a light guide-emitting portion curvedly extending outward from the light-incident portion, having a distal end portion extending along the back light-transmitting region and directed to the rear.

According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes a radiation surface, at least one light source provided to face the radiation surface, and an optical control member provided between the radiation surface and the light source and includes optical characteristics of transmission, diffraction, diffusion, and reflection, which vary for regions in the optical control member, a distribution of each of the optical characteristics being determined by positions relative to the at least one light source. The optical control member is formed in a sheet shape which is controlled by at least one of a reflective film having a reflection factor distribution, and a reflective film having a numerical aperture distribution, and lenses.

The optical filter satisfies a relationship,0.65&#x2266;(&#x3bb;)/(&#x3bb;)&#x2266;0.90where T(&#x3bb;) is a transmittance at a central part of the substrate at the maximum absorption wavelength &#x3bb;, and T(&#x3bb;) is a transmittance at a peripheral part of the substrate at the maximum absorption wavelength &#x3bb;. The optical filter also satisfies a relationship,0.90&#x2266;((&#x3bb;)/(&#x3bb;))/((&#x3bb;)/(&#x3bb;))&#x2266;1.05with respect to transmittances wherein &#x3bb;is each wavelength 450 nm, 530 nm and 630 nm, and &#x3bb; is the maximum absorption wavelength.

Optical filter and display apparatus with the same

Optical filter layers that transmit only light with a desired wavelength are provided in a non-formation region of an optical absorbing layer formed on an inner surface of a glass panel, and phosphor layers that emit either one of red, green, and blue light are provided on the optical filter layers. The optical filter layers transmit blue light. Assuming that the thickness of the optical filter layer underlying the phosphor layer that emits blue light is t, and the thickness of the optical filter layers underlying the phosphor layers that emit red and green light is t, a relationship: t&#x3e;tis satisfied. A color cathode ray tube includes a faceplate and a phosphor screen provided on the inner surface of the faceplate and including red, green, and blue phosphor layers. A color filter layer is interposed between the inner surface of the faceplate and the phosphor screen. The color filter layer includes color filters opposed individually to the phosphor layers of the phosphor screen and having colors corresponding thereto. Color filters of each color have a higher transmittance for light beams with wavelengths which are in a range of .+-.20 nm of the maximum emission spectrum wavelength of the phosphor layers of the corresponding color than for light beams with wavelengths which are outside the range and which are between 400 nm and 650 nm. A common outside filter for complementing the light absorption properties of the color filters is provided on the outer surface of the faceplate and has a maximum absorption in a predetermined wavelength which is outside the maximum emission spectrum wavelengths of the red, green, and blue phosphor layers.
