A method of and an apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium. A heat-sensitive sheet having a light-transmissive base sheet provided with a heat-fusible supercooled substance layer is made to abut a copy original such that the heat-fusible supercooled substance layer faces the original image to be copied while flashlight is projected onto the base sheet of the heat-sensitive sheet. Thus, the image portion of the copy original to be copied absorbs the light transmitted through the heat-sensitive sheet and thereby generates heat so that an adhesive area containing a pattern corresponding to the original image is formed on the supercooled substance layer. After the heat-sensitive sheet has been removed from the copy original, such an adhesive area is transferred to the recording medium owing to the adhesiveness of the adhesive area.

Method and apparatus of recording image

An illumination device for causing a discharge tube to emit a light by applying a high frequency electromagnetic field thereto from outside including a high frequency wave oscillating circuit, a discharge tube, and a shield for shielding the oscillating circuit and the discharge tube to prevent the adverse effect of high frequency noise. When used in an original reading apparatus of the movable optical system type, the portion of the illumination device from the high frequency wave oscillating circuit to the discharge tube is reciprocally moved as a unit with the shield.

An original reading apparatus with shielding

A discharge tube adapted to produce a light by an extraneous high frequency electromagnetic field is heated before discharge to thereby improve the rising-up of the discharge and achieve uniformization of emitted light. Further, the discharge tube is heated by an electrode which applies a high frequency electromagnetic field to the discharge tube.

Lighting device

An illumination apparatus includes a discharge tube for emitting light upon an application of an external high frequency wave electromagnetic field, an electrode, arranged outside the discharge tube, for applying the high frequency wave electromagnetic field to the discharge tube, a high frequency wave applying unit for supplying high frequency wave power to the electrode, and a projected portion extending from the discharge tube. The projected portion extends to a position where the high frequency wave electromagnetic field generated by the electrode has a level lower than a discharge initiation level. The high frequency wave power is controlled by changing a voltage, a frequency, a duty ratio or the like.

A method of charging or discharging a member including the steps of, opposing to a member to be acted, a discharging member having a dielectric member, an inducing electrode and a discharging electrode sandwiching the dielectric member so that the discharging electrode faces the member to be acted, applying an alternative voltage between the inducing electrode and the discharging electrode to produce a surface discharge on a surface of the dielectric member at the discharging electrode side, moving the member to be acted relative to the discharging electrode to charge or discharge the member to be acted by the thus formed surface discharge, ceasing the production of the surface discharge by attenuating both of positive and negative, at the discharging electrode relative to the inducing electrode, components of the alternating voltage at least down to a discharge stopping voltage and then rendering the voltage zero.

Method and device for charging or discharging member

A device for electrically discharging or charging a member to be discharged or charged, includes a dielectric member, first and second electrodes embedded in the dielectric member, the first and second electrodes being supplied with an alternating voltage therebetween to cause discharge adjacent a part of a surface of the dielectric member at a predetermined discharge starting voltage, a third electrode disposed to or adjacent a part of the surface of the dielectric member at such a position as when the discharge occurs by application of the alternating voltage between the first and second electrodes, no discharge occurs between the first electrode and the third electrode or between the second electrode and the third electrode, AC source for applying an alternating voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode, DC source for applying a bias voltage between the third electrode and the member to be discharged or charged.

Charging or discharging device

A method of charging or discharging a member including the steps of, opposing to a member to be acted, a discharging member having a dielectric member, an inducing electrode and a discharging electrode sandwiching the dielectric member so that the discharging electrode faces the member to be acted, applying an alternating voltage between the inducing electrode and the discharging electrode to produce a surface discharge on a surface of the dielectric member at the discharging electrode side, wherein width of an area where the surface discharge is produced is substantially equal to width of the inducing electrode, and charging or discharging the member to be acted by the thus formed surface discharge.

Method and device for charging or discharging a member

A discharging device includes first and second electrodes sandwiching therebetween a dielectric member, wherein an alternating voltage is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode to produce electric discharge adjacent to the second electrode. The relation between the alternating voltage and a distance between an end surface of the second electrode to a corresponding end of a region where the electric discharge occurs, is so determined that an intermediate saturation property is exhibited. The level of the alternating voltage is set to provide the intermediate saturation property. With such a discharging device, a member is electrically charged or discharged.

Electrostatic recording method and apparatus

An image recording apparatus includes a rotatable transfer member and a plurality of latent image bearing members which are in rolling press-contact with the transfer member at different positions. Around the latent image bearing members, are provided latent image forming devices and devices for developing the latent image. The developed images formed on the respective latent image bearing members are transferred by pressure onto a recording material or onto the transfer member at the respective nips formed between the transfer member and one of the latent image bearing members. With this apparatus, duplex image recording, overprint or superimposing recording, and/or high speed recording can be accomplished.

Image recording apparatus

A developing apparatus for developing a latent image on a latent image bearing member, including a magnetic device for forming a magnetic brush of a developer mixture containing developer particles and magnetic particles; a movable developer carrying member for developing the latent image on the latent image bearing member, the developer carrying member being contactable with the magnetic brush to receive the developer mixture; a magnetic particle blocking member, disposed opposed to the developer carrying member at a position downstream of the position where the developer carrying member is contacted with the magnetic brush, for blocking the magnetic particles to form a coating of the developer particles on a surface of the developer carrying member, wherein the coating of the developer particles is conveyed by the movement of the developer carrying member to a developing station where the latent image is developed with the conveyed developer particles.

A developing apparatus includes a developer supply container, having an opening, for containing a non-magnetic developer and magnetic particles, an endlessly movable developer carrying member of a non-magnetic material for carrying a developer, which is movable between an inside of the developer supply container and an outside of the developer supply container through the opening, a magnetic particle confining member, provided to an outer surface of the developer carrying member with a gap, a magnet for generating a fixed magnetic field, having a magnetic pole disposed inside of the carrying member and upstream of the confining member with respect to movement of the carrying member, and a magnet, disposed outside of the carrying member and downstream of the confining member with respect to movement of the carrying member, for forming a line of magnetic force extending therefrom to the confining member.

A developing apparatus includes a container for containing a non-magnetic developer and magnetic particles, a developer carrier for carrying the non-magnetic developer toward an image bearing member, a regulating member located adjacent to the non-magnetic developer discharge opening of the container to form a gap between the surface of the carrier and the regulating member, and a magnet positioned adjacent to the carrier at the side of the carrier opposite to the regulating member and causing the magnetic particles to form a magnetic brush upstream of the regulating member adjacent to the developer discharge opening of the container with respect to the direction in which the developer carrier is moved, whereby a thin layer of the non-magnetic developer can be formed on the developer carrier.

Developer thin layer forming apparatus

A developing apparatus for developing a latent image includes a container, a developer carrying member movable along an endless path from inside the container to the outside, a magnetic field generator inside the carrying member, a partition member in the container for separately supporting, before operation, a first developer of magnetic particles and a second developer of non-magnetic particles, and a regulating member cooperable with the magnetic field generator. Upon release of the partition member, the first developer forms a base layer on the carrying member and the second developer forms on the base layer and then, upon circulation of the carrying member the second developer is moved past the regulating member.
