This invention provides a disk holding device which may include a plurality of disk holding members and a disk receiving part. The disk holding members may each be provided with a holding projection part projected from the inner periphery side toward the outer periphery side of the disk-formed recording medium; the holding projection part may be provided with an inclined surface displaced so as to be spaced away from the disk-formed recording medium as one goes from the inner periphery side toward the outer periphery side of the disk-formed recording medium in the condition where the disk holding members are inserted in the center hole.

A disc drive device which can discharge a disc in an optimum discharge amount in the disc drive device dealing with discs having different thickness and weight. A disc drive device including a disc conveying mechanism formed with a supporting portion to support the optical disc, and having a plurality of arms rotatably supported in the housing, and an energizing member for rotatably energizing the plurality of the rotary arms in a predetermined direction, and conveying the optical disc between a disc mounting position for holding the optical disc inserted into the housing in the disc holding portion and a disc insertion/removal position for inserting/removing the optical disc, the top cover having a control portion for controlling a rotary region of the plurality of rotary arms which energizes the optical disc in the discharging direction by contact with the plurality of rotary arms supporting the outer peripheral surface of the disc.

Disc drive device

An apparatus is provided comprising: a record and/or playback units having a first circuit board provided with a grounding potential unit; a cover body pivotably mounted to the record and/or playback unit and including a shield member connected to the grounding potential unit and a second circuit board connected to the first circuit board; a holder made of a metallic material and arranged to travel between the location for loading a recording medium into the record and/or playback unit and the location spaced away from the record and/or playback unit as the cover body is pivotably moved, and a grounding member made of a metallic material, provided with an engaging portion for engagement with the shield member and a contact for coming into direct contact with the holder, and connected to the shield member to urge the cover body in a direction of the holder pivotably turning. Since the shield member is connected to the grounding member, the circuit board remains connected to the ground thus preventing the apparatus from being statically charged.

A bar code reading apparatus comprises: a laser module () having a light-emitting device () and a light-receiving device () arranged in a substantially orthogonal state; a moving mirror having a mirror mounted on a stand, swing shafts provided on both sides of the stand, a magnet mounted on a lower side of the stand, a supporting pole arranged below the magnet, and an air-core driving coil in which the supporting pole is inserted; and a light-emitting lens for condensing a light beam from the light-emitting device () and reflecting the light beam to the mirror; the laser module, the moving mirror and the light-emitting lens being housed in a housing. Thus, miniaturization of the reading apparatus is realized, and the bar code reading apparatus is provided in which the light-receiving accuracy is improved while the swing of the mirror is secured.

The present invention provides a laser module that can maintain weldability of a lens holder and improve machinability, and it protects a burr from being induced, and thereby improves optical accuracy, improves a reading accuracy of a bar code, improves mass productivity and reduces a manufacturing cost. In a laser module for a bar code reader, which has a packaged structure including a light emitting element and a light projection lens, for collecting a beam emitted from the light emitting element through the light projection lens and irradiating to an irradiation target, it includes: a cylindrical housing, in which the light emitting element is engaged with one end side; and a cylindrical lens holder, which is engaged with the other end side of the housing, for holding therein the light projection lens. Then, the lens holder is provided with: an inner cylinder, which is made of a metal having good machinability, for holding therein the light projection lens; and an outer cylinder engaged with a periphery of the inner cylinder and integrated with the inner cylinder, whose outer circumference is made of a metal having good weldability to be welded to the housing.

Laser module for bar code reader

An optical device for bar-code reading capable of improving the degree of freedom in design of component lenses so as to allow free positional adjustment of the lenses while ensuring downsizing and weight reduction of the device, and a method for manufacturing are disclosed. An optical device for bar-code reading comprises a light emitting element; a light projection lens for focusing light from the light emitting element so as to irradiate a bar code; a light receiving lens for focusing reflected light from the bar code and having formed therein a penetrating hole which penetrates a plane of incidence of light and a plane of outgoing of light, in which the light projection lens is inserted; and a light receiving element for receiving the light focused by the light receiving lens so as to perform photo-electric conversion.

Optical device for bar-code reading, method for manufacturing an optical device, and light projection/receiving package

An optical data code reader employing a scanner of simplified compact construction, which is constituted by a light projection means including a light source and a converging lens and a reflected light sensor means including a reflected light capture lens and a photosensitive element. A laser diode serving as the light source and a photodiode serving as the photosensitive element are mounted side by side on a common substrate in the form of a single chip module. A converging ball lens of the light projection means and the capture lens of the reflected light sensor means are mounted on a common support member, which is connected to the substrate of the laser diode and photodiode in such a manner as to facilitate assembling of the respective components. The capture lens is arranged as a narrow band pass filter permitting passage of only light rays of wavelengths originating from the light source of the scanner.

Optical data code reader

A light emitting and receiving device structure capable of compactly accommodating a light emitting element and a light receiving element and having an optical axis of an emitted beam of light in close proximity to an optical axis of a return beam of light to produce the light emitting and receiving device in a miniature size and lightweight. A one-piece structure consists of a cylindrical package having a bottom with its one end open and the other end closed with a bottom plate and a protruding pedestal member which is installed on the bottom plate of the package with its centerline concentric with the centerline of the package. The light receiving element is secured to the front end surface of the pedestal member, while the light emitting element is secured to the side face of the pedestal member, thus accommodating both devices in one package.

Light emitting and receiving device structure

An optical scanning device is provided, which is compact-sized and lightweight, and, which consumes less power. A movable member of the device is supported on a fixed member via a swing axis provided on the fixed member. On an upper surface and along an axial line of swing of the movable member, there are disposed a light emitting unit and a light receiving unit. When an AC current flows through a coil provided in the movable member, electromagnetic force acting on the coil when traversing a magnetic circuit comprising a yoke and a permanent magnet both provided on the fixed member urges the movable portion to swing around its swing axis at a predetermined cycle. A laser bean L from the light emitting unit scans a bar code and a reflected light L&prime; from the bar cord is received by the light receiving unit thereby reading information of the bar code. The above structure of the device minimizes the drop in the efficiency of light reception and contributes to a compact and lightweight design, and less power consumption.

Optical scanning device

A cassette loading apparatus having a cassette holder for holding a tape cassette and driven by a gear train to move the tape cassette to a predetermined loading position includes a pair of gears in engagement with each other in the gear train, at least one of the pair of gears being formed as a geneva stop gear, a locking member provided on one of the pair of gears, and a cam formed on the other gear being in engagement with the locking member. The cam has an increased length, so that when the pair of gears are in engagement the locking member is restricted by the cam and when the pair of gears are disengaged from each other by the geneva stop gear, a rotational ratio substantially equal to a gear ratio of the pair of gears is applied to the pair of gears by the cam and the locking member. In this way when the cassette holder is moved to the loading position the locking member comes in contact with the cam, thereby locking the cassette holder.

A tape cassette for use with a thermal printing apparatus includes a cassette housing; supply and take-up reels rotatably mounted in the cassette housing; tape having a pigment thereon wound about the supply and take-up reels and having a segment extending between the reels, the length of the segment being adjustable; a hollow projecting portion extending from the cassette housing and having a free end at which a first guide pin is connected; a second guide pin moveably mounted, in a sliding or pivotal relation, with respect to the cassette housing for guiding the segment of tape; and optionally, a tape drawing member to which the second guide pin may be connected and which is moveable with respect to the cassette housing for adjusting the length of the segment of tape.
