A multi-winding transformer with a short ring includes an electrically conductive discharge path connected to the short ring for discharging the short ring and/or the transformer. Discharging the short ring suppresses or eliminates electrostatic interference caused by the structure and operation of the transformer.

Suppression of electrostatic interference from a transformer with a short ring

A microcomputer for automatically controlling the sound in an audio or audio-visual system. Incoming audio signals from multiple channels are combined and fed to a pair of detector-rectifier circuits. One detector-rectifier circuit is a smoothing circuit with a time constant longer than that of the other detector-rectifier circuit. The signals with a longer time constant are fed to the microprocessor to control the volume function of an audio or audio-visual system. The signals with a shorter time constant are fed to the microprocessor to equalize the source frequency spectrum of an audio or audio-visual system.

Method and apparatus for leveling and equalizing the audio output of an audio or audio-visual system

A circuit for directly differentiating stereo and mono signals regardless of whether a pilot carrier signal is present. The circuit generally includes a detection circuit coupled to a control circuit. The detection circuit subtracts the left and right audio signals, and the control circuit compares the resulting difference to a reference signal. When the reference signal exceeds the difference between the left and right signals, the control circuit judges that the inputs are mono. The circuit is advantageously used to automatically disable a repercussion function of a stereo system when a mono signal is received.
