An oil pump attachment structure is provided for an engine. The oil pump attachment structure includes an oil pump,coaxially driven by the crankshaft,A pump housing,of the pump,is disposed between a front cover,for covering timing chains,and crank sprockets,while leaving a clearance against the front cover,The pump housing,is also fastened to a cylinder block,so as to straddle the timing chains,, through stays,by bolts,With this arrangement, pulsation produced during the operation of the oil pump,is not transmitted to the front cover,directly, so that noise radiated from a front face of the front cover,can be reduced.

Oil pump attachment structure for engine

An oil filter unit comprising a housing (4) and a filter element (14) accommodated therein is fitted to an engine (1) via a bracket (3) having a cylindrical holder (5). The housing (4) is secured to the holder (5) by screwing a male screw (19) on its outer circumference to a female screw (17) formed in the inner circumference of the holder (5). A first cut-out (24) is formed across the female screw (17) and a second cut-out (23) is formed across the male screw (19). When these cut-outs (24, 23) meet together, they form a drain passage which drains the oil in the housing (4) to outside. With this construction, the oil in the housing is drained via a predetermined path and prevented from scattering around, when the filter unit is removed from the engine (1).

Oil filter fixing structure

An oil pan structure for an internal combustion engine includes an oil pan and a baffle plate extending over a bottom of the oil pan. The oil pan is formed with at least one flow regulating barrier projecting upwards from the bottom, and extending along a longitudinal direction of the engine to separate first and second longitudinal channels. The baffle plate is formed with at least one oil collecting hole in the form of a slit extending closely along an upper end of the flow regulating barrier, at a position just behind the upper end of the barrier with respect to a rotational direction of a crankshaft. The flow regulating barrier defines a constricted venturi throat between the lower surface of the baffle plate and the upper end of the barrier, to create a fluid pressure drop as a fluid flows through the venturi throat from the first channel to the second channel. The oil collecting hole opens into the second channel by the side of the upper end of the barrier to allow the lubricating oil on the baffle plate to be sucked into the second channel by the pressure drop.

Oil pan structure for internal combustion engine

An oil pan for an internal combustion engine is an assembly of a tank member defining a deep interior space section for storing a lubricating oil, and a main frame member having a shallow bottom defining a shallow interior space section for collecting the oil. The main frame member further includes first and second side walls defining a bottomless open interior space section for leading the oil from the shallow interior space section into the deep space section. The main member is further formed with at least one transverse bridge extending over the bottomless open space section between the side walls to improve the rigidity. The transverse bridge is reinforced by a longitudinally extending projection such as a thin wall rib projecting laterally from one of the side walls or a flow regulating barrier projecting upward from the shallow bottom.
