A pattern phase difference film is manufactured by a process including a laminate body formation step of applying a pattern alignment layer composition on a substrate to form a laminate body, a heat-drying layer formation step of heat-drying the composition to form a heat-dried layer, a pattern alignment layer formation step of irradiating a polarization pattern onto the heat-dried layer to form a pattern alignment layer, and a phase difference layer formation step of forming a phase difference layer including a rod-shaped compound on the pattern alignment layer. During the steps between the heat-drying layer formation step and the phase difference layer formation step, the heat-dried layer and the pattern alignment layer are exposed to the air for four hours or less.

Patterned phase difference film and method for manufacturing same

The present invention provides an adhesive composition comprising a copolymer (a) of a methylmethacrylate (MMA) and/or a butylmethacrylate (BMA) and a styrene (St), also provides an adhesive composition comprising a mixture of an acrylic polymer (b) and a ketone resin, wherein the acrylic polymer (b) is at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a poly MMA, a poly BMA, a MMA/BMA copolymer or a MMA/BMA/St copolymer, and also provides a thermal transfer sheet having a layer comprising the adhesive composition. The adhesive composition has excellent heat sealing characteristics and resistance to blocking when it is used for the formation of an adhesive layer, is also superior in miscibility with various organic or inorganic additives and allows these additives to exhibit their functions sufficiently when these additives are added and has high transparency.

Adhesive composition and thermal transfer sheet

A protective layer transfer sheet comprising a thermally transferable protective layer releasably provided on a substrate sheet is provided which, when a protective layer is formed by thermal transfer onto an image-receiving sheet with an image formed thereon, can prevent carrying troubles, such as meandering or cockling, within a printer. In a protective layer transfer sheetcomprising a substrate sheet, a heat-resistant slip layerprovided on one side of the substrate sheet, and a thermally transferable protective layerreleasably provided on at least a part of the surface of the substrate sheetremote from the heat-resistant slip layer, bringing the coefficient of friction between the surface of the protective layer and the surface of the image-receiving sheet before thermal transfer to 0.05 to 0.5 in terms of &#x3bc;(coefficient of static friction) and &#x3bc; (coefficient of dynamic friction) with the value of &#x3bc;/&#x3bc; being 1.0 to 1.5, that is, bringing the coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of dynamic friction to the above respective ranges and reducing the difference between the coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of dynamic friction to the above range, can prevent carrying troubles, such as meandering or cockling, within a printer.

Protective layer transfer sheet

The present invention provides a protective layer transfer sheet which, when used to thermally transfer a protective layer onto an image-receiving sheet with an image formed thereon, provides a print that does not cause cracking of the protective layer and, even when housed and stored in a vinyl chloride case containing a plasticizer or the like, does not cause the migration of a dye constituting the image to the case, that is, has excellent fastness properties. In a protective layer transfer sheet comprising a substrate sheet , a heat-resistant slip layer provided on one side of the substrate sheet , and a thermally transferable protective layer releasably provided on at least a part of the surface of the substrate sheet remote from the heat-resistant slip layer , the thermally transferable protective layer contains an epoxy resin and, in addition, contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of a butyral resin, an acrylic resin, and an ultraviolet absorber. By virtue of this construction, a protective layer is strongly adhered onto an image-receiving sheet with an image formed thereon. Further, the protective layer is strong and homogeneous, and, thus, even when the print is housed in a vinyl chloride case, the print does not cause the dye to migrate to the case, that is, has excellent plasticizer resistance.

A thermal transfer dye image-receiving sheet is provided which can form high-quality color images by a thermal transfer method. The thermal transfer dye image-receiving sheet comprises: a substrate sheet; and a dye-receptive layer provided on at least one side of the substrate sheet, the dye-receptive layer containing at least a caprolactone-modified cellulose, the cellulose comprising at least a cellulose acetate component.

Thermal transfer dye-receptive sheets and receptive layer transfer sheets

A thermal transfer sheet is comprises a substrate sheet, a dye layer of at least one color, a white layer to cover an image-receiving portion of a receiving material after an image is formed therein, and if necessary, a transferable receptor layer to be transferred to the image-receiving portion of the receiving material before the formation of the image, those layers being alternately disposed side by side on a surface of the substrate sheet, wherein said white layer being capable of adhering to the image-receiving portion already provided with the image and being disposed on the substrate sheet via a peeling layer interposed therebetween. The white layer has a white screenability to provide excellent light diffusivity and light transmissivity for a background of the printed image. The white layer may be formed by applying a coating liquid containing an adhesive binder resin and a white pigment or a coating liquid containing a binder resin, an adhesive, and a white pigment on the peeling layer.

Thermal transfer sheet and method for manufacturing same

This invention provides a thermal transfer sheet causing little static electricity during transfer onto a material as a transfer image support, and printed matter excellent in antistatic properties. The thermal transfer sheet comprises a protective transfer layer provided in at least part of one surface of a base sheet via a nontransferable release layer so as to be peelable, and has an antistatic agent contained in at least one of the release layer and the protective transfer layer. Printed matter is prepared by transferring the protective transfer layer from the above thermal transfer sheet onto an image formed on a substrate by a sublimation transfer process so as to cover at least part of the image.

Thermal transfer sheet

A protect layer transfer sheet of the present invention comprises a substrate, an untransferable release layer and a thermally transferable protect layer, the protect layer being disposed on at least one area of a surface of the substrate by the medium of the release layer. The release layer contains at least one substance selected from the group consisting of inorganic particles having a mean particle size of 40 nm or less, alkyl vinyl ether--maleic anhydride copolymer, derivatives of the alkyl vinyl ether--maleic anhydride copolymer and ionomer. According to the present invention, it is possible that a protect layer is surely and constantly transferred on an image formed in a printed product at all times. Furthermore it is also possible to make the thermally transferable protect layer a single-ply structure by omitting an adhesive layer. The single-ply structure of the protect layer has an improved transparency, thus increasing the highest density of a highly quality image covered with the protect layer.
