An image capture apparatus detects a subject area from an image that has been shot and enlarges a focus detection area in a case where the subject area is not detected or a reliability that the detected subject area corresponds to an intended subject is determined to be low. The image capture apparatus enlarges the focus detection area based on the distances previously obtained by the obtainment unit.

Image capture apparatus and control method thereof

An image processing apparatus detects, from an image, a subject(s) of a first type and a subject(s) of a second type. The apparatus further detects a posture for each of the subject(s) of the first type. The apparatus then obtains, for each of the subject(s) of the first type, reliability that the subject is a main subject, based on the posture, and obtains a focus condition for each of the subject(s) of the first type and each of the subject(s) of the second type. The apparatus determines, based on the reliability and the focus condition, a main subject from the subject(s) of the first type and the subject(s) of the second type detected from the image.

A liquid container and an apparatus in which the liquid container is mountable are provided, the liquid container and the apparatus enabling the presence or absence of remaining liquid to be checked without the need for a power source and even after the liquid container is removed. The pressure in a communication path is maintained while ink in a containing section is not supplied to the exterior. Thus, the displacement state of a detection valve which is displaced depending on the pressure in the communication path can be maintained even after removal of an ink tank.

Liquid container and apparatus in which liquid container is mountable

A liquid container enables a liquid contained in a liquid containing chamber to be supplied to an exterior through a supply port. The liquid container includes a first channel, a second channel, and a communication path. The first channel is in communication with a first opening which opens into the liquid containing chamber. The second channel is in communication with a second opening which opens into the liquid containing chamber, the second opening being positioned above the first opening in a direction of gravitational force. The communication path allows the first channel and the second channel to communicate with each other outside the liquid containing chamber to permit a flow of the liquid.

A liquid container includes an air-tight liquid-storage chamber or reservoir, a movable member for agitating liquid, and a protrusion portion for supporting the movable member. The movable member and the protrusion portion are disposed in the liquid-storage chamber. The movable member includes a first end that is linearly movable along the protrusion portion and a second end that is free.

The liquid cartridge includes a housing configured to accommodate the liquid container for storing liquid, a groove portion formed on an outer surface of the housing, a liquid lead-out opening, formed on a bottom surface of the groove portion communicating with the liquid container and configured such that the liquid lead-out path for guiding the liquid inside the liquid container to the outside is connected to or disconnected from the liquid lead-out path, a flow path extending toward the inside of the housing from an end of the groove portion in a liquid dripping direction, and a liquid absorbing member provided at an end opposite to the groove portion of the flow path.

An ink tank includes an ink supply connection port connected to a main body of a recording apparatus for supplying ink thereto, a first ink reservoir reserving the ink supplied to a sub-tank, a first ink delivery passage supplying the ink reserved in the first ink reservoir to the ink supply connection port, a one-way valve disposed in the first ink delivery passage that enables the ink to move from the first ink reservoir to the ink supply connection port, a second ink reservoir reserving the ink returned from the sub-tank, and a second ink delivery passage supplying the ink reserved in the second ink reservoir to the ink supply connection port and joins with the first ink delivery passage at a position between the one-way valve and the ink supply connection port.

An ink tank includes a stirrer supported in a freely moveable manner near an inner wall of an ink storage chamber. When the stirrer moves closest to the inner wall, a predetermined gap is formed between opposing surfaces of the inner wall and the stirrer.

An ink tank with a high volume efficiency and a printing apparatus which are capable of completely using up ink stored in the ink tank. A meniscus holding force (Pm) of a non-compressed portion () of an ink guide member () is set higher than an initial ink-storage-portion negative pressure (P), and lower than a used-up ink-storage-portion negative pressure (P). In addition, a meniscus holding force (Pm) caused under compression is set stronger than the used-up ink-storage-portion negative pressure (P), and weaker than a meniscus holding force (Phf) of a head filter ().

A liquid storage container capable of ensuring a sufficient ink storage space and preventing liquid leakage without large variations in liquid pressure even when the container is deformed by an external force during shipping or in operating time. The container includes a protection member positioned outside of a flexible member, and an opening is defined on a plane member arranged in contact with the flexible member so as to face the protection member.

Liquid storage container

An ink container usable for recording heads different in flow rate without being affected by a pigment particle concentration of ink held in an ink supply portion is provided. In correspondence with a size of a filter of a recording head used, ink non-conducting areas are provided to a press-contact member, whereby movement of settled ink remaining in the press-contact member is blocked. As a result, common use of the ink container with respect to the recording heads different in flow rate is realized.

In an ink supply system for connecting with an ink container with a hollow communicating tube provided in the ink container, in order to prevent leakage of the ink from the communicating tube and simultaneously to prevent damage of the communicating tube projected from the ink container, the communicating tubeis made movable to be projected from the inside of the ink container and to be inserted into a recording head, thus establishing liquid communication between the inside of the ink container and the inside of the recording head.
