Provided is a display device, including: a pair of substrates arranged at an interval; oil filled between the pair of substrates; a shutter arranged in the oil; a drive portion, which is arranged in the oil, for driving the shutter in a predetermined direction; and a wall portion provided in the oil and on one of the pair of substrates. The wall portion is positioned adjacent to the shutter in one of the predetermined direction of the shutter and a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction. The wall portion has a height exceeding a height of the shutter in a thickness direction of the shutter. The wall portion has at least a part positioned lateral to the shutter.

Each optical sensor element includes an upper electrode, a lower electrode, and a light dependent variable resistance element formed of amorphous silicon. Each optical sensor pixel includes: a capacitive element between the lower electrode and a reference voltage line; a first transistor inputting a first power source voltage to a second electrode, connecting a first electrode to the lower electrode, and inputting a second clock to a control electrode; a second transistor inputting a second power source voltage to a second electrode, and connecting a control electrode to the lower electrode; and a third transistor connecting a second electrode to a first electrode of the second transistor, connecting a first electrode to the output line, and inputting a first clock to a control electrode.

Optical sensor circuit or array including optical sensor element having a light dependent variable resistance element

A method for driving a liquid crystal display device that decreases a sticking of the display image. The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel electrode and a counter electrode. A polarity of the signal supplied to the pixel electrode is periodically inverted at the first period and the second period. The length of the first period is different from that of the second period.

Method for driving a liquid crystal display device

A display device having a photosensor which exhibits excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency is provided. In a display device which forms photosensors on a substrate thereof, the photosensor is formed by sequentially stacking a gate electrode, a gate insulation film and a semiconductor layer in such an order or in an opposite order from a substrate side, and electrodes are connected to both sides of the semiconductor layer respectively, the semiconductor layer is formed of a stacked body consisting of a crystalline semiconductor layer and an amorphous semiconductor layer, and the crystalline semiconductor layer is arranged on the gate insulation film side.

The present invention provides a display device where thin film transistors are formed on a substrate on which an image display portion is formed, wherein the thin film transistors comprise: a gate electrode; a gate insulating film formed so as to cover the gate electrode; a semiconductor layer in island form which is formed on the gate insulating film so as to overlap with the gate electrode; and a pair of electrodes formed on the semiconductor layer so as to face each other, and the semiconductor layer is provided within a region where the gate electrode is formed as viewed in a plane, and formed of a crystal semiconductor layer and an amorphous semiconductor layer, which are layered in sequence on the gate electrode side, characterized in that the gate electrode is formed so as to have such a film thickness that the light transmittance is 0.3% or less at least in the region facing the semiconductor layer.

In a liquid crystal display device which inputs analogue video signals after phase development, the deterioration of display quality due to the irregularities of circuit can be reduced. To correct the irregularities due to a plurality of analogue circuits, the liquid crystal display device includes look up tables for a plurality of analogue circuits in the inside of a digital signal processing circuit. The liquid crystal display device performs the correction of irregularities of the analogue circuits based on data set in the look up tables.

Liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display element comprising two transparent substrates, at least one of which is transparent, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the two substrates. A plurality of pixels and active elements for driving the liquid crystal at the plurality of pixels are incorporated into at least one of the two substrates, and an optical axis of an incident light beam upon the liquid crystal layer is present in a plane which is substantially perpendicular to a direction of orientation of liquid crystal molecules on at least one of the two substrates, and the incident light impinges upon the liquid crystal layer in a direction which is inclined by a predetermined angle to the direction of the normal line of the substrate. With this arrangement, a desired phase modulation is obtained through slight motion of the liquid crystal molecules, thereby greatly reducing the liquid crystal drive voltage.

A projector includes a liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display panel and a display control device coupled to the liquid crystal display panel. The display control device is composed of a first section for receiving an externally supplied video signal, and a second section succeeding the first section and coupled to the liquid crystal display panel. The second section is formed of a circuit for amplifying and converting the video signal into an ac signal supplied from the first section, and a drive pulse circuit for outputting drive pulses for driving the liquid crystal display panel. The first section and the second section are fabricated on first and second substrates separate from each other, respectively. The second section is disposed proximately to the liquid crystal display panel, and the first section and the second section are coupled via a flexible cable.

Liquid crystal projector

The present invention provides a projection type liquid crystal display device capable of achieving a high contrast ratio without causing optical leakage on boundary wavelength regions of three color light components in the case of a black display. The projection type liquid crystal display device is provided with a first and a second retarder stacks each of which has cut-off wavelengths. The cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a shorter wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the second retarder stack, and the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a longer wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the second retarder stack.

Color-separation/synthesis optical system with particular cut-off wavelengths and emission-side polarizer and projection type liquid crystal display device using the same

A liquid crystal display device includes plural reflective electrodes supplied with a video signal, second light-blocking conductive films below the reflective electrodes with a first insulating layer therebetween, and a first light-blocking film below the second light-blocking conductive films so as to cover spacing between the second light-blocking conductive films. Each of the second light-blocking films is electrically connected to a corresponding one of the reflective electrodes, and is disposed to cover at least a portion of spacings between the corresponding one of the reflective electrodes and ones of the reflective electrodes adjacent thereto. A second insulating layer is interposed between the first and second light-blocking films, and its thickness is from 150 nm to 450 nm.

Reflective type liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrate, plural reflective electrodes arranged on a surface of the first substrate on a liquid crystal layer side thereof, each of the reflective electrodes being adapted to be supplied with a video signal; and plural light-blocking conductive films disposed below the reflective electrodes with an insulating layer interposed between the light-blocking films and the reflective electrodes. Each of the light-blocking films is electrically connected to a corresponding one of the reflective electrodes, and is disposed to cover at least a portion of spacings between the corresponding one of the reflective electrodes and ones of the reflective electrodes adjacent thereto.
