A method of producing a radio frequency member to construct a radio frequency confinement device based on a waffle iron structure includes providing an intermediate work of a plate shape or a block shape, the intermediate work including a main surface which is shaped as a plane or a curved surface and a plurality of rods extending away from the main surface. An interval between a side surface of one of the plurality of rods and a side surface of another rod that is adjacent to the one rod monotonically increases in a direction away from the main surface. The method also includes forming an electrically-conductive plating layer on the main surface and at least the side surface of the plurality of rods by immersing at least a portion of the intermediate work in plating solution.

A waveguide device includes a first electrical conductor including a first electrically conductive surface extending along first and second directions, a second electrical conductor including a second electrically conductive surface opposing the first electrically conductive surface, a waveguide located between the first electrical conductor and the second electrical conductor and extending along the first direction, the waveguide including an electrically-conductive waveguide surface opposing the first electrically conductive surface, and a plurality of electrically-conductive rod rows located on opposite sides of the waveguide, each rod row including a plurality of electrically conductive rods arranged along the first direction. A slot array antenna includes: first and second conductive members; and a ridge-shaped waveguide member on the second conductive member and conductive rods surrounding it. The waveguide member has a waveguide face which is opposed to a conductive surface of the first conductive member and which extends along a first direction. The first conductive member includes first and second slot groups each arranged along the first direction. The second conductive member has a throughhole which splits the waveguide member into first and second ridges. Some slots in the first and second slot groups are connected to a waveguide within the throughhole via a waveguide extending between the waveguide face of the first ridge and the conductive surface, and the remaining slots are connected to the waveguide within the throughhole via a waveguide extending between the waveguide face of the second ridge and the conductive surface.

Slot array antenna

A waveguide device includes an electrical conductor including an electrically conductive surface, a waveguide extending alongside the electrically conductive surface, and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide. The waveguide includes a first portion extending in one direction, and at least two branches extending from one end of the first portion, the at least two branches including a second portion and a third portion that extend in mutually different directions. A waveguide defined by the electrically conductive surface, the waveguide surface, and the artificial magnetic conductor includes an enlarged gap portion at which a gap between the electrically conductive surface and the waveguide surface is locally enlarged.

Waveguide device, and antenna device including the waveguide device

A slot antenna device includes a first electrical conductor including first and second electrically conductive surfaces, a second electrical conductor including a third electrically conductive surface that opposes the second electrically conductive surface, a waveguide body on the second electrically conductive surface, and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide body. The first electrical conductor includes a slot. The waveguide body includes a waveguide surface that opposes the third electrically conductive surface. The third electrically conductive surface, the waveguide surface, and the artificial magnetic conductor define a waveguide. The waveguide body includes a first ridge and a second ridge. As viewed from a direction perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the waveguide surface, the slot is located between the one end of the first ridge and the one end of the second ridge.

Slot antenna device

A slot array antenna includes: a first conductive member having a first conductive surface and a plurality of slots therein, the slots being arrayed in a first direction and in a second direction which intersects the first direction; a second conductive member having a second conductive surface which opposes the first conductive surface; a plurality of waveguide members arrayed between the first and second conductive members along a direction which intersects the first direction, each waveguide member having an conductive waveguide face which extends along the first direction so as to oppose at least one of the slots; and an artificial magnetic conductor in a subregion which is within a region between the first and second conductive members but outside of a subregion containing the waveguide members. Neither an electric wall nor an artificial magnetic conductor exists in a space between two adjacent waveguide faces among the waveguide members.

Slot array antenna, and radar, radar system, and wireless communication system including the slot array antenna

A slot antenna includes: a first electrically conductive member having a first electrically conductive surface; a second electrically conductive member having a second electrically conductive surface opposing the first electrically conductive surface; a waveguide member between the first electrically conductive member and the second electrically conductive member, the waveguide member having an electrically conductive waveguide face of a stripe shape opposing the first electrically conductive surface, the waveguide member extending in a first direction along the first electrically conductive surface; and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide member, between the first electrically conductive member and the second electrically conductive member. The first electrically conductive member has one or more slots. At least one of the slot or slots is a complex slot having a pair of vertical portions and a lateral portion that interconnects the pair of vertical portions. The lateral portion of the complex slot opposes the waveguide face, and intersects the first direction.

Slot antenna

A slot array antenna includes: an electrically conductive member having an electrically conductive surface and slots therein, the slots being arrayed in a first direction which extends along the conductive surface; a waveguide member having an electrically conductive waveguide face which opposes the slots and extends along the first direction; and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide member. At least one of the conductive member and the waveguide member includes dents on the conductive surface and/or the waveguide face, the dents each serving to broaden a spacing between the conductive surface and the waveguide face relative to any adjacent site. The dents include a first, second, and third dents which are adjacent to one another and consecutively follow along the first direction. A distance between centers of the first and second dents is different from a distance between centers of the second and third dents.

A mounting substrate includes a circuit board and a coupler. The circuit board has a mounting surface on which a microwave integrated circuit element is to be mounted, the microwave integrated circuit element having a plurality of terminals including first and second antenna I/O terminals. The coupler connects the first and second antenna I/O terminals to a waveguide device. The coupler includes: a first electrical conductor portion to be connected to the first antenna I/O terminal; a second electrical conductor portion to be connected to the second antenna I/O terminal; and an elongated gap in which an end face of the first electrical conductor portion and an end face of the second electrical conductor portion oppose each other. The elongated gap has a narrow portion at which the distance between the end face of the first electrical conductor portion and the end face of the second electrical conductor portion is locally decreased. The coupler couples an electromagnetic field being produced at the narrow portion to a waveguide in the waveguide device.

Mounting substrate, waveguide module, integrated circuit-mounted substrate, microwave module

An antenna array according to an embodiment includes a conductive member having a first and second slots adjacent to each other. The conductive surface on a front side of the conductive member is shaped so as to define a first and second horns respectively communicating with the first and second slots. The respective E planes of slots are on the same plane, or on a plurality of planes which are substantially parallel to each other. In an E-plane cross section of the first horn, a length from one of two intersections between the E plane and an edge of the first slot to one of two intersections between the E plane and an edge of the aperture plane of the first horn is longer than a length from the other intersection between the E plane and the edge of the first slot to the other intersection between the E plane and the edge of the aperture plane of the first horn, the lengths extending along an inner wall surface of the first horn.

Waveguide device and antenna array

A transmission line device includes: a plurality of electrically conductive members stacked with interspaces therebetween, the plurality of electrically conductive members including three or more electrically conductive members; and a plurality of artificial magnetic conductors each located between two adjacent electrically conductive members among the plurality of electrically conductive members. Among the plurality of electrically conductive members, at least one electrically conductive member located between two endmost electrically conductive members is shaped as a plate having at least one slit. At least a portion of the plurality of artificial magnetic conductors is located around the at least one slit to suppress leakage of an electromagnetic wave propagating along the at least one slit.

Transmission line device

An antenna array includes: an electrically conductive member having an electrically conductive surface in which a plurality of slots are open; a plurality of electrically-conductive ridge pairs on the electrically conductive surface, each pair protruding from edges of the central portion of a corresponding one of the plurality of slots. As viewed along a direction that the central portion of each slot extends, at least a portion of the first gap between the first ridge pair and at least a portion of the second gap between the second ridge pair overlap each other, with no other intervening electrically-conductive member therebetween; or at least a portion of the first ridge pair and at least a portion of the second ridge pair overlap each other, with no other intervening electrically-conductive member therebetween.

Antenna array

A horn antenna array includes at least two horn antenna elements arranged along a first direction. Each of the at least two horn antenna elements includes a base having a slot extending along a second direction which intersects the first direction, and a horn communicating with the slot, the horn having a pair of electrically-conductive first inner walls intersecting the first direction and a pair of electrically-conductive second inner walls intersecting the second direction. The pair of second inner walls include a pair of opposing protrusions. When radiating an electromagnetic wave, the pair of protrusions create two radiation sources on the inside of the pair of first inner walls.

Horn antenna array

A method of producing a horn antenna array includes: a step of providing a first die and a second die; a step of assembling the first die and the second die, filling an internal space surrounded by the first die and the second die with a fluid material, and solidifying the fluid material; and a step of, after the material has solidified, separating the first die and the second die. In a portion corresponding to each horn antenna element, the first die has a pair of protrusions and a groove between the pair of protrusions, and the second die has a protrusion. In a state where the first die and the second die are assembled, a gap exists between a tip end of each protrusion of the second die and a bottom face of each groove.

Method of producing a horn antenna array and antenna array

A microwave IC waveguide device module includes: a substrate having a throughhole; a microwave IC provided on or above the first face of the substrate; a waveguide member provided below the second face of the substrate opposite from the first face, the waveguide member having an electrically conductive waveguide face which opposes the throughhole; an electrically conductive member covering at least a portion of the second face that extends in a manner of following along the waveguide face; and an artificial magnetic conductor on both sides of the waveguide member. The substrate includes an inner-wall electrically conductive portion covering an inner wall of the throughhole and being electrically connected with the electrically conductive member. The signal terminal and the ground terminal of the IC are electrically connected respectively with two portions of the inner-wall electrically conductive portion opposing each other with the throughhole interposed therebetween.
