A magnetic recording medium having high bonding capability between the surface lubricant and the diamond-like carbon (DLC) protective layer in the surface of the magnetic recording medium is disclosed. The lubricant is a fluorine-containing lubricant for magnetic recording media represented by the following formula (1), (2) or (3), wherein the substituents R, R, R, R, Rand Rin the terminal part of the lubricant each independently represent an organic group, and at least one of the substituents Rand R, at least one of the substituents Rand R, and at least one of the substituents Rand Reach have an isocyanate group: Also disclosed is a magnetic recording medium using the lubricant.

A phthalimide salt compound is contained in a photosensitive material having a charge generating function. Such a photosensitive material exhibits high retention rates of the surface charge. An electrophotographic photoconductor comprising such a photosensitive material is useful in, for example, printers, photocopiers, and facsmilie machines.

Electrophotographic photosensitive material, electrophotographic photoconductor, and method for manufacturing same

An electrophotographic photosensitive body has a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate. The photosensitive layer contains a phthalocyanine compound as a photoconductive material, wherein the content of a phthalocyanine dimer compound in the layer that contains the phthalocyanine compound is present from about 100 nmol to about 300 mmol per 1 mol of the phthalocyanine compound. The resulting electrophotographic photosensitive body has excellent potential retention properties.

Photosensitive body for electrophotography and manufacturing method for the same

A photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoconductor has at least one phthalocyanine compound, wherein the photosensitive layer contains a metal phthalocyanine compound bonded by an o-phthalonitrile compound as a ligand. The o-phthalonitrile ligand is present in an amount from about 100 nmol to about 200 nmol with respect to 1 mol of the phthalocyanine. The resulting electrophotographic photoconductor exhibits a high potential retention rate. A method for making such an electrophotographic photoconductor is also disclosed wherein a photosensitive layer is formed by coating, with a coating layer, to obtain a photosensitive layer having a high potential retention rate.

Electrophotographic photoconductor and manufacturing method for the same

A selenium photoconductor has a charge transport layer and a charge generation layer formed on a conductive substrate. Both the charge generation layer and the charge transport layer are made from a selenium-arsenic alloy, with the charge generation layer having a concentration of arsenic greater than the concentration of arsenic in the charge transport layer. This concentration distribution results in a photoconductor having excellent charge-generation efficiency and mobility. In an alternate embodiment, a halogen is doped into the charge generation layer and charge transport layer. The resulting photoconductor is useful in large-scale, high speed printing operations.

Electrophotographic selenium photoconductor

An electrophotographic photoconductor includes a phosphinate additive in a photosensitive film that improves the stability of the coating liquid for the photosensitive film. The electrophotographic photoconductor includes an electrically conductive substrate and a photosensitive film on the substrate. The photosensitive film contains a charge generation agent and a phosphinate compound. The photoconductor may be of either a monolayer or a laminate construction. In the case of a laminate type photoconductor, the phosphinate compound is incorporated into the charge transport layer. A method of making an electrophotographic photoconductor adds a phosphinate additive to the coating liquid for a photosensitive film to improve stability of the coating liquid. The method involves producing a coating liquid containing a phosphinate compound and coating a conductive substrate with the coating liquid to form a photosensitive film.

Photoconductor for electrophotography and method of manufacturing the same

There is provided an electrophotographic photoconductor whose stability has been improved by incorporating an aryloxydiarylphosphine compound into a layer having a charge transport material. There is also provided a method for producing an electrophotographic photoconductor, which can improve the stability of a coating liquid for formation of a photosensitive layer by incorporating the aryloxydiarylphosphine compound into the coating liquid.

Electrophotographic photoconductor and method for production thereof

A photoconductor for electrophotography includes a photoconductive layer that contains titanyloxyphthalocyanine as a charge generation agent. The concentration of SO.sub.4.sup.2- with respect to the concentration of titanyloxyphthalocyanine is adjusted to be less than or equal to 500 ppm. The photoconductor may be of either a monolayer or a laminate construction. In the case of a laminate type photoconductor, the titanyloxyphthalocyanine is incorporated into the charge generation layer.

Photoconductor for electrophotography and method for manufacturing the

A first selenium-arsenic layer of a photoconductor, deposited on a conductive substrate, has a thickness and arsenic concentration effective to preserve an electrically charged surface potential in darkness and to transport carriers generated on exposure to light. The first layer is between 20 to 70 .mu.m thick. A second amorphous selenium-arsenic alloy layer, formed on the first layer, generates carriers on exposure to light. The surface roughness, Rmax., of the conductive substrate is less than or equal to 0.5 .mu.m. The first layer, or both of the photoconductive layers, are doped with iodine. When both layers contain iodine, the iodine content of the second layer is equal to or less than that of the first layer. The thickness of the second layer is between 5 to 30 .mu.m. The arsenic content of the amorphous selenium-arsenic alloy of the second layer is equal to or greater than that in the first layer. After deposition of the first and second layers, the photoconductor is heat treated at between 100.degree. to 200.degree. for 30 to 80 minutes. In a further embodiment the first layer of the photoconductor has an arsenic content in the range of 10 to 45 wt %. The second layer arsenic content is in the range of 25 to 45 wt %.

Photoconductor for electrophotography

An electrophotographic photoconductor having an electrically conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate is provided wherein the photosensitive layer comprises a layer that contains titanyl oxyphthalocyanine as a photoconductive material, and alkyl polyol that is diol or higher polyol and has hydroxyl groups for every three carbon atoms in a main chain of the alkyl polyol. The content of the alkyl polyol is controlled such that the amount of the hydroxyl groups of the alkyl polyol is in a range of 0.1 mol to 100 mol per 1 mol of titanyl oxyphthalocyanine. A method of manufacturing this electrophotographic photoconductor is also disclosed.

Electrophotographic photoconductor and method of manufacturing the same

An electrophotographic photoconductor having superior electrical properties and image quality which are not affected by the external environment is provided. The photoconductor includes an intermediate layer formed between a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer. The intermediate layer is a hardened film containing as its main components melamine resin, aromatic carboxylic acid and/or aromatic carboxylic anhydride, and fixed iodine. Alternatively, the intermediate layer is composed of normal-butylated melamine resin, acid and/or an acid equivalent, and fixed iodine. The film thickness of the intermediate layer according to the present invention need not be as thin as in the prior art. An intermediate layer of such a thickness can cover various defects on the surface of the conductive substrate, and a uniform photosensitive layer with few film defects can be formed on the intermediate layer. In particular, even in the case of a photoconductor with a photosensitive layer composed of a charge-transfer layer laminated on a charge-generation layer, a thin-film, charge-generation layer can be easily formed without experiencing non-uniform film growth.

An electrophotographic photoconductor has an intermediate layer formed between an electrically conductive substrate and photosensitive layer. The intermediate layer is made of a hardened film formed by hardening an amino resin with a catalyst comprising aromaticsulfonic acid, alicyclicsulfonic acid, a mixture thereof, or latent acid thereof to provide good image qualities without causing any troubles in the process of image formation.

In the specific embodiments described herein, the charge drop resulting from fatigue in an electrophotographic process using an a-Se:H photosensitive member is reduced by a stabilization exposure carried out for one to three cycles prior to use of the member for image formation. Longer wavelength light may be used for the stabilization exposure and shorter wavelength light may be used for the imaging and discharge steps.
