A reinforcing cord of the present invention is a reinforcing cord () for rubber reinforcement including a fiber core () and a plurality of strands () disposed around the fiber core (). The fiber core () is formed of one or a plurality of highly elastic fibers having a tensile elastic modulus of at least 100 GPa. Each of the plurality of strands () is formed of a plurality of glass fibers that are primarily twisted, and the plurality of strands () are finally twisted to be disposed around the fiber core (). The direction of the final twist of the plurality of strands is opposite to the direction of the primary twist in each of the plurality of strands (). The number of final twists of the plurality of strands () is 1.0 to 3.0 times/25 mm, and a ratio of the number of primary twists in each of the plurality of strands () to the number of final twists of the plurality of strands () (the number of primary twists/the number of final twists) is in a range of 1.5 to 2.5.

Reinforcing cord and rubber product using the same

A cord for rubber reinforcement of the present invention includes a core strand including a plurality of strands (A), and a plurality of strands (B) disposed around the core strand. In the core strand, the plurality of strands (A) are finally twisted, and each of the plurality of strands (A) is formed of a plurality of reinforcing fibers (A) that are primarily twisted. Each of the plurality of strands (B) is formed of a plurality of reinforcing fibers (B) that are primarily twisted, and the plurality of strands (B) are finally twisted to be disposed around the core strand. The direction of final twist of the plurality of strands (B) is the same as the direction of primary twist in at least one strand (B) selected from the plurality of strands (B). The number of primary twists in the strand (B) is greater than the number of primary twists in the strand (A), and/or the number of final twists of the strands (B) is greater than the number of final twists of the strands (A).

Cord for rubber reinforcement

The present invention provides an object-sensing device capable of estimating the presence of an object attached on a sensing surface, the kind of the object and the state of the object. An image is formed by a lens with light via the sensing surface, and the light is received by a light-receiving element portion in which a plurality of micro-light-receiving elements are arranged. In the object detection mode, totally reflected light from the sensing surface is received by the light-receiving element portion. The components are arranged at an angle that allows total reflection when there is no object, and does not allow the total reflection condition to be satisfied when there is an object. In the light scattering object detection mode, scattered light from the sensing surface is received by the light-receiving element portion. A signal pattern is obtained by joining detection signal levels of the micro-light-receiving elements in accordance with the arrangement of the micro-light-receiving elements. An increase portion or a drop portion of the signal pattern that appears in accordance with the presence of the object or a difference in the state thereof is analyzed, so that the kind and the state of the object such as a rain drop, muddy water, fogging, ice or the like are estimated.

Deposit detector and controller using the detector

The present invention provides a heat-reflecting windshield that includes a laminated glass sheet and a detecting device for optically detecting a target object such as water droplets. The laminated glass sheet includes a first glass sheet, a heat-reflecting film formed on the first glass sheet, an intermediate film and a second glass sheet. The detecting device is disposed on a main surface of the laminated glass such that a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element in the device are arranged in a predetermined region of the main surface, and the predetermined region is rubbed by a windshield wiper. The heat-reflecting film includes at least three dielectric layers and at least two metal layers, and the heat-reflecting film is not formed in said predetermined region.

Laminated heat-reflecting windshield with detecting device

An object sensor is provided, which has a high object detection rate with respect to an object such as a raindrop adhering to a detection surface, and which is capable of detecting the presence/absence of an object with a high sensitivity. A light source, a detection surface, a focusing lens, and a plurality of photodetecting elements of a photodetecting unitform a focusing system of equal magnification that is capable of catching an image in a size smaller than an object to be detected. Light emitted from the light sourceis incident on the detection surfacevia a prismat a predetermined incident angle. Without a raindrop, the total internal reflection condition is satisfied as shown by a pathof a beam, so that the beam is subjected to the total internal reflection. Then, the beam passes through a prism, and is focused on a photodetecting surface of the photodetecting unitby the focusing lens. On the other hand, with a raindrop, the total internal reflection condition is not satisfied as shown by a trailof a beam, so that the beam passes therethrough and is not focused on the photodetecting unit. A difference in signal level is determined on the photodetecting element basis, so that an object covering the detection surfaceis detected.

Adhering substance detector and controller using the same

A liquid drop detector which may be fixed or attached by a simple operation, without machining, to a window glass, includes a light emitting element, a light receiving element and light guiding bodies wherein the light emitted by the light emitting element is introduced through a diffraction grating into a first light guiding body and after undergoing total internal reflection within the first light guiding body it is introduced through a silicon member, through an elongated light guiding body, through an additional silicon member, and into a windshield. After traveling within the windshield by total internal reflection, the light passes through a silicon member, reenters the elongated light guiding body, passes through another silicon member and enters a second light guiding body which guides it to a receiver. When rain drops adhere to the outside surface of the windshield at points corresponding to the total internal reflection points at the outer surface of the windshield, the light will leak out of the windshield. As a result of this, the amount of light received by the light receiving element is lessened, thereby providing for detection of the adhesion of rain drops based thereupon so as to output a signal for driving a device such as the windshield wiper.

Multilayer, cushioned liquid drop detector

A glass substrate having fine holes formed therein by use of a laser beam without cracks or fragmentation occurring. A glass substrate is used in which silver is contained in the form Ag atoms, Ag colloid or Ag ions, to a predetermined depth from a surface of the glass, and further the concentration gradient of the silver is a maximum at one side surface on which the fine hole machining is performed and gradually decreases toward the other side surface, whereby ablation and evaporation occurs from the surface having the maximum concentration of silver layer by layer without causing cracking or fragmentation.

A windshield (transparent substrate) 1 having the function of detecting the presence of water drops W upon one side surface of the windshield depending upon variations in an amount of reflected light, comprising a rain sensor provided on the other side surface of the windshield, which further comprises: light emitting means 6 for guiding light into the windshield 1; light receiving means 7 for detecting the light which is reflected within the windshield 1; and, light shielding members 10 and 11 provided on the other side surface of the windshield 1 opposing the light emitting means 6 and the light receiving means 7, respectively; wherein the light shielding member 10 shields the light emitted from the light emitting means 6 at an incident angle less than a critical angle at which total internal reflection occurs at a boundary surface between air and the windshield 1, while the other shielding member 11 shields outside ambient light incident upon the light receiving means 7.

Water drop detector on transparent substrate

A front windshield 1 having a rain sensor 2 for detecting the adhesion or presence of water drops W upon one side surface thereof, depending upon variation in an amount of reflected light, wherein the rain sensor 2 comprises: a light emitting element 7 for introducing a sensing light beam into the front windshield 1; a light receiving element 8 for detecting the light beam which is propagated by total internal reflection within the front windshield 1; and diffraction gratings 5, 6 formed on a surface of a glass substrate 4, through which the light emitting element 7 and the light receiving element 8 are provided on glass surface, whereby the rain sensor 2 is adhered on the other side surface of the front windshield 1 by means of an adhesive material 3 having a refractive index equivalent to that of the glass substrate 4.

An image transmitting element is disclosed, which comprises: a transparent substrate; photo-transmissible holes one-dimensionally or two-dimensionally formed as an array in the substrate, each of the holes having a substantially cylindrical side surface and at least two substantially semi-spherical surfaces; a photo-absorptive surface formed on at least a part of the cylindrical side surface of the photo-transmissible holes; and a transparent material with which the photo-transmissible holes are filled, the transparent material having a refractive index higher than that of the substrate.
