Pointer-type meter

A display device is provided with a light emitting display element that presents an impression that the light emitting display element and the periphery thereof are integrated, while suppressing reflection due to outside light. The display device is provided with an electroluminescence display element having a glass substrate (light transmitting substrate), a transparent electrode, a light emitting layer and a back plate; a light transmitting member arranged on a front side of the electroluminescence display element; a circularly polarizing plate arranged on the front side of the light transmitting member; a black light blocking layer arranged on a back side of the light transmitting member for covering an area other than a display area 'S' of the electroluminescence display element; and a reflection layer having the same or similar color tone as the back plate.

Illuminating apparatus

The invention provides a luminous pointer which can offer an increased commercial value with its glowing surface having the ability to glow generally uniformly. The luminous pointer is constructed of a pointer element which is made of a light-transmitting material and forms an indicating portion (glowing surface) , a light-blocking cover which covers a central region of swing motion R of the pointer element and opens rearward, and a shielding element which covers the rear side of the central region of swing motion R of the pointer element . The pointer element has in its central region of swing motion R reflecting parts to for reflecting illuminating light fed from the rear side at least toward its tip end, and the shielding element has exposing parts for exposing the reflecting parts to of the pointer element and is formed of a light-transmitting material which makes it possible to adjust the amount of transmission of the illuminating light.
