In the connector, each terminal has a base portion, a rear upper beam, a front upper beam, a rear lower beam, and a front lower beam. The actuator includes a cam portion pushing the rear upper beam upwards, and the rear lower beam includes a fixed portion. The front lower beam includes a contact point which establishes contact with the flat cable, and a front end of the lower surface of the front lower beam establishing contact with the upper surface of the bottom portion of the housing. The contact point is positioned to the rear of the upper end of the lower surface of the front lower beam, and the front lower beam and the rear lower beam curve upward when the rear upper beam is pushed upwards, the front end of the lower surface of the front lower beam and the fixed portion serving as the support point.

Connector for securing a flat cable

An engaged protrusion is formed in a flat cable connected to a connector. The housing of the connector has an engaging protrusion rising in front of the position in which the engaged protruding portion is arranged when the flat cable is connected. A reinforced metal fitting has a reinforced protrusion raised along the engaging protrusion. The rear surface of the engaging protrusion is positioned to the rear of the rear surface of the reinforced protrusion. The rear surface of the reinforced protrusion is formed so as to extend upward and forward.

Electric connector

An electrical connector () is provided for terminating a flat electrical circuit () to a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing () having an opening () for receiving an end of the flat circuit. A, plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing in a side-by-side array and are spaced along the opening. Some of the terminals have mounting sections () for fixing the terminal in the dielectric housing. Each such terminal includes a tail section () projecting from one end of the mounting, section outside the housing for connector to an appropriate circuit trace on the printed circuit board. A flexible contact arm () projects from an opposite end of the mounting section into the opening. An actuator section () is disposed between the flexible contact arm and the mounting section. An actuator () is movably mounted on the housing for movement between and open position allowing the flat circuit to be inserted into the opening and a closed position in engagement with the actuator sections of the terminals to bias the flexible contact arms into engagement with the flat circuit.

Flat circuit connector

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a flat electrical circuit. The connector includes a dielectric housing having an opening for receiving an end of a flat circuit. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing and have contact portions exposed in the opening. An actuator is movably mounted on the housing for movement between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the actuator allows the flat circuit to be inserted into the opening. In the closed position, the actuator biases the flat circuit against the contact portions of the terminals. The actuator is magnetized, and a second magnetic component is mounted for drawing the actuator to its closed position due to magnetic attraction forces between the magnetized actuator and the magnetic component.

An FPC connector has a structure not damaging contacts of terminals upon assembling. In the FPC connector, each of the terminals has a contact beam extending into the FPC inserting portion and a pivot beam extending substantially parallel in upper side of the contact beam, and a cut-out portion is formed on a lower edge at a tip end portion of the pivot beam for forming a pivot portion of the actuator. The actuator is formed with through openings corresponding to pivot portions of respective terminals, a peripheral edge portion of each of the through hole being formed into a cross-sectionally substantially circular shape shaft portion to engage with the pivot portion. Pushing projecting portions is provided between adjacent shaft portions for pivoting according to pivot motion of the actuator for urging the FPC toward the contacts of the terminals.

An FPC connector permits downsizing and not exerting residual stress on terminals irrespective of the pivoting position of an actuator while an FPC is not connected. The FPC connector is provided with biasing beams respectively arranged adjacent contact terminals disposed in an insulative housing. The biasing beams are pivotable about support points at intermediate portions thereof. The biasing beams are pivoted by means of pivotal actuator.

Connector for flat flexible cable

A connector is provided for terminating a plurality of generally parallel coaxial cables having fine conductor cores. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a slot. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing with contact portions spaced along the slot. A wire management member is insertable into the slot and includes a plurality of grooves for receiving the conductor cores and spacing the cores in alignment with the contact portions of the terminals. An actuator engages the wire management member and biases the conductor cores against the contact portions of the terminals.
