A method of manufacturing a yoke includes a step of cutting a steel plate into a rectangular sheet having a plurality of first dovetail convexities at one end thereof and a plurality of second dovetail convexities at the other end, a step of rolling the rectangular sheet into a cylinder to fit the first dove tails and the second dove tails to each other and a step of punching border portions of the first dove tails and the second dove tails. The second dovetail convexities are formed to be the same in shape as the first dovetail convexities so that they can fit to the first dovetail convexities. A smooth-faced yoke can be manufacture without using an expensive welder.

Method of manufacturing yoke of rotary electric machine

In a two-layer brush for a commutator, the plane form projected on a commutator surface is nearly similar to the plane form of the segment. A molding die used in brush fabrication has a lower punch which slides obliquely up and down along a sliding groove provided in the lower die, and an upper punch which can slide obliquely up and down in relation to the lower punch. The pressure applying face of the upper punch is formed nearly level, while the pressure receiving face of the lower punch is inclined by a predetermined angle relative to the pressure applying face of the upper punch. It is, therefore, possible to form a first brush material to a predetermined shape, and to apply a uniformly pressure to the second brush powder, to thereby form a second brush material having nearly fixed thickness.

Method of fabricating brushes

An Assembly/processing apparatus includes part tray, work tray where work pieces are placed, conveyor, base machine, part-tray lane, work-tray lane, part-tray transfer apparatus and work-tray transfer apparatus. Conveyor conveys part trays and work trays together, base machine includes assembling means for assembling parts to a work piece, and part tray lane and work tray lane are provided on base machine. Conveyor conveys part trays and work trays to base machine, and respectively places them on each of part tray lane and work tray lane. Then, assembling means takes parts from part tray, and assembles them to the work piece on work tray.

Assembly/processing apparatus

An electric rotating machine as disclosed herein includes an armature core having an outer peripheral portion with slots, a rotatable shaft having an outer periphery and rotatably supporting the armature core, a plurality of lower layer coils each having at opposite ends thereof respective lower layer coil protrusion portions, and a plurality of upper layer coils disposed radially outside of the lower layer coils and each having at opposite ends thereof respective upper layer coil protrusion portions. According to the novel method of this invention, the lower layer coil protrusion portions are bonded to the upper layer coil protrusion portions with a welding torch of an arc welding machine by radially moving at least one of the welding torch and boundary portions, at which the corresponding protrusion portions abut one another, relative to each other. By radially moving the welding torch and the boundary portions relative to each other, circumferentially adjacent bonded protrusion portions are smaller, mechanically stronger, and do not abut against one another.

Method for bonding rotors of an electric rotating machine

An armature for an electric rotating machine has a plurality of outer coil elements and a plurality of inner coil elements. Each of the coil elements has end protrusions extending axially outwardly from an axial side of an armature. The end protrusions facing each other in a radial direction is joined by an arc welding. In one method, the end protrusion of the outer coil element is formed a projection at an axially inside of an axial end of the protrusion. The end protrusions are held spaced apart from each other in the radial direction while contacting only through the projection. The axial ends of the protrusions are welded by swinging the welding arc. In another method, a ring-shaped brazing material is interposed between the end protrusions. The brazing material is melted by the welding arc to weld the end protrusions, while cutting out the brazing material existing between two adjacent pairs of the end protrusions.

Method for manufacturing armature of rotating electric machine

An armature coil is formed by welding upper and lower coil conductors each having a coil trunk, a pair of coil arms and a pair of coil extensions. Between an upper coil extension and a lower coil extension to be welded together, a recess is formed. This recess may be formed at the corner between a side face of an upper coil arm which is at the side of the armature core and a radially inner side face of the upper coil extension. The radially inner side face of the upper coil extension has a space against the radially outer side face of the lower coil extension only at the location where the recess is provided, while the radially inner side face except for the recess contacts the radially outer side face of the lower coil extension.

Armature for rotary electric machine having welded joint between upper

A rotor for an electric rotary machine having an armature core, upper layer coil elements and lower layer coil elements is provided. Each coil element has a straight coil side and a pair of coil ends extending radially at a right angle from the coil side. Each coil end is inclined by a predetermined angle with respect to the coil side in a circumferential direction of the armature core. The lower layer coil side and the upper layer coil side are inserted into corresponding slots in a radial direction. A connector comprising a tip of the coil end of the upper layer coil element and a connector comprising a tip of the coil end of the lower layer coil element are welded together.

Manufacturing method for a rotor of an electric rotary machine

An armature core composed of a plurality of thin plates having a plurality of slots and a center hole is provided. Then, lower coil bars and subsequently upper coil bars are placed in the respective slots with insulators so that a coil end portion of one of the lower coil bars in one of the slots and a coil end portion of one of the upper coil bars in another slot meet together. After the meeting-coil-end portions are welded, a shaft is inserted to the center hole.

Method of manufacturing rotary electric machine

A starter which assuredly and simply sealed an outer circumference of one engagement portion between a housing and a yoke or the other engagement portion between the yoke and an end frame with a band-shaped seal member. The banded-shaped seal member covers each engagement portion of the yoke, a center plate, the housing, a brush holder, and the end frame. The seal member has a clearance which is placed to correspond to a notched ventilation hole so that the yoke can be opened in the direction of the starter bottom or the ground.
