A system for managing storage or delivery of electrical energy. The system includes a plurality of stackable energy storage devices, one or more connectors, a plurality of switches, and a controller. The stackable energy storage devices receive the electrical energy from at least one external device or provide the electrical energy to the at least one external device. Each connector connects to a plug of a cable extending from an external device and provides a connection between an energy storage device and the external device. The switches are disposed between the energy storage devices and the one or more connectors and open or close the connection between the energy storage device and the external device. The controller controls the switches to open or close the connection. The system includes a user interface for receiving user input, and the controller controls the switch based on the user input.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for managing storage or delivery of electrical energy

The virtual reality navigation system can display the position of an autonomous vehicle at a predetermined amount of time in the future via virtual reality. A virtual reality display can display a virtual reality autonomous vehicle, as if the virtual reality autonomous vehicle is the autonomous vehicle operating at the predetermined amount of time in the future. Additionally, a virtual reality interface can provide an interface for an operator to interact with the environment of the autonomous vehicle. The virtual reality interface can receive an alternate route selection, and display in virtual reality the one or more maneuvers that would be required to reach the selection.

A computing device for a vehicle proximity condition detection and haptic notification system is provided. The device includes one or more processors for controlling operation of the computing device, and a memory for storing data and program instructions usable by the one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to execute instructions stored in the memory to enable a user to specify operation of an active suspension system of an ego-vehicle so as to generate at least one pulse at at least one wheel of the vehicle, responsive to a vehicle proximity condition, and operate the active suspension system in accordance with the user's specification.

Driving rating information for other vehicles in an external environment of a vehicle can be provided. The external environment of the vehicle can be sensed to detect the other vehicles. Driving rating information for the other vehicles can be received, such as directly from the other vehicles or from a remote driving ratings source. The driving rating information for the other vehicles can be presented within the vehicle. Based on such driving rating information, a vehicle occupant can decide whether or not to lead or follow a particular vehicle in the external environment. If a selection of one of the identified one or more vehicles is received from a vehicle occupant, the vehicle can be caused to implement one or more driving maneuvers relative to the selected vehicle.

A computing device for a vehicle proximity condition detection and haptic notification system is provided. The computing device includes one or more processors for controlling operation of the computing device, and a memory for storing data and program instructions usable by the one or more processors, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute instructions stored in the memory to operate, upon detection of a vehicle proximity condition, at least one portion of the vehicle as a haptic device in a user-selected manner directed to informing a vehicle occupant of the vehicle proximity condition, and directed to suggesting to the occupant a vehicle control command that is responsive to the proximity condition.

A vehicle includes a proximity sensor that senses a distance to objects located to at least one side of the vehicle, a camera mounted at the front of the vehicle, a display for displaying video from the camera, and processing circuitry that detects a transition of the vehicle from surroundings of the vehicle in which at least one object located to the side of the vehicle is within a predetermined proximity threshold distance to surrounding of the vehicle in which no objects are located to the side of the vehicle within the predetermined proximity threshold distance, and in response to determining that, at least, the proximity sensor has detected the transition, the processing circuitry is configured to display video from the camera on the display of the vehicle. Additional criteria for displaying the video can include vehicle speed, distance traveled prior to the transition, duration for which the state prior to the transition was maintained, and the state of the vehicle's turn signal.

A method/system for lane departure warning/assistance that warns the driver that the vehicle is about to leave a current lane and enter an adjacent lane. The driver is identified, and a corresponding profile is accessed. The driver's pupils may be measured and compared to pupil size baseline data stored in the accessed profile. If the difference in pupil size exceeds a pupil size baseline by more than a deviation level, the method/system may adjust a lane departure warning/assistance threshold of a lane departure detector that warns the driver each time the vehicle is getting too close to an adjacent lane, thus alerting the driver that the vehicle may drift into the next lane. Driving patterns, such as steering angles and braking force, may also be used to adjust the lane departure warning/assistance threshold and determine whether the driver may benefit from lane departure warning/assistance.

A system for assessing a toll on a vehicle traveling past a toll station in which a tag mounted on the vehicle transmits an output signal having data representative of the fuel consumption of the vehicle and the identity of an account associated with the tag. A receiver at the toll station receives the output signal from the tag and provides the received data to a processor. The processor then calculates a toll which varies as a function of the data and thus of the fuel consumption of the vehicle and then assesses that toll to the account.

Method and system for assessing vehicle tolls as a function of fuel consumption

An example traffic control system includes a vehicle unit associated with a vehicle on a highway, one or more roadside units proximate the highway, and a traffic controller. The vehicle unit transmits a vehicle speed to the roadside unit, when in wireless communication range. The roadside unit transmits the vehicle speed to the traffic controller. The traffic controller receives vehicle speed data from a plurality of vehicles, and determines a suggested speed for each vehicle. The suggested speed may be correlated with an average speed of vehicles on a portion of the highway, for example the same highway portion on which vehicle is located, or a highway portion towards which the vehicle is heading.

Vehicle speed indication using vehicle-infrastructure wireless communication

A motor vehicle with an integrated visual display system for displaying proximity location information on an external object while the motor vehicle is parked or moving is provided. The integrated visual display system is operable to display information from a plurality of proximity sensors on a single display screen. The plurality of proximity sensors can be part of an autonomous and/or cooperative collision warning system.
