A photosensitive film of the present invention includes a carrier film having a first surface whose surface roughness is 0.1 to 0.4 μm, and a photosensitive layer formed on the first surface, in which a haze of the carrier film is 30 to 65%, and a spectral haze at a wavelength of 405 nm of the carrier film, as measured by providing a transparent resin layer in which a difference between a refractive index of the transparent resin layer and a refractive index of the photosensitive layer is within ±0.02 on the first surface, is 0.1 to 9.0%.

A microstructure for electroluminescent (EL) elements comprises a plurality of microconvexities having circular bottom surfaces. Each microconvexity is defined by a generatrix dropped from the peak to the circumference of the bottom surface. The height of the generatrix is monotonically reduced from the peak to the circumference. The height of the peak may be 0.67-1.15 times the radius of the bottom surface. The height of the convexities at a position on the radius of the bottom surface &#xbe; away from the center of the bottom surface may be 0.21-0.65 times the radius of the bottom surface. The height of the convexities at a position on the radius of the bottom surface 9/10 away from the center of the bottom surface may be 0.04-0.38 times the radius of the bottom surface.

A method for producing surface convexes and concaves enabling easy and highly precise formation of desired convex and concave shapes using a photomask is provided. Method for producing surface convexes and concaves

The present invention provides a light control film that can prevent generation of a moir&#xe9; pattern when it is superimposed on another member having a regular structure while securing sufficient front luminance, and a backlight device using the same. The light control film of the present invention has a light control layer provided with an uneven pattern on a surface, and in this uneven pattern, a plurality of convexes having circular bases of approximately the same diameters are arranged so that the bases thereof should not overlap with one another and each should touch one or two or more other bases, and ratio of convexes arranged so that each of circular bases thereof should touch both bases of two convexes of which bases touch each other is controlled to be 50 to 92% among the total convexes arranged. The backlight device of the present invention is a backlight device incorporated with the aforementioned light control film.

Light control film, backlight device using the same, and method for manufacturing mold for forming uneven pattern

An anti-glare member prevents reflection of external light by surfaces of displays or screens without causing reduction of contrast and glare of displayed images. The anti-glare member has an anti-glare layer comprising microparticles and a transparent binder wherein the microparticles are black microparticles having a value (n), obtained by dividing absolute value of complex index of refraction of the black microparticles by index of refraction of the transparent binder, of 0.95 to 1.05. The arithmetical mean roughness (Ra) according to JIS B0601:2001 of surface of the anti-glare layer is 0.3 to 1.0 &#x3bc;m.

Anti-glare member, display and screen using the same

A method for producing surface convexes or concaves disposes a mask member having light transmitting sections and non-light transmitting sections over and spaced from one side of a photosensitive film including a photosensitive resin composition, and a light diffusing member is disposed on the opposite side of the photosensitive film across the mask member. Light is irradiated from a light source disposed on the opposite side of the mask member across the light diffusing member to subject the photosensitive film to light exposure through the light diffusing member and the light transmitting sections of the mask member. Exposed portions or unexposed portions of the photosensitive film are removed by development to produce convexes or concaves on the photosensitive film in shapes determined by shapes of the exposed portions or unexposed portions. In exposure, conditions such as haze of the light diffusing member are controlled to control the shapes of the exposed portions or unexposed portions.

A light control film providing improved n front luminance and appropriate light diffusion, without problems of interference pattern, glare etc., has a rough surface constituted so that, for a curved surface portion of the rough surface, having an approximately square area of 1 mmor larger and defined at an arbitrary position on the rough surface by using data for heights of the rough surface measured at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal and transverse directions, an average of slopes of the curved surface portion (&#x3b8;degrees) of the rough surface, with respect to a base plane of the film, should be not less than 27 degrees and not more than 70 degrees at substantially any position on the light control film.

Light control film and backlight unit using the same

A transmission screen through which an observer can see the side of the screen opposite to the observer side, and which has a sufficient viewing angle is provided. The transmission screen is a transmission screenhaving a light diffusing layercomprising a transparent binder and light diffusing elements contained in the binder, and the transmission screen is constituted so that the light diffusing elements should have a relative refractive index n of 0.75 or smaller or 1.25 or larger relative to refractive index of the transparent binder, both surfaces of the transmission screenshould be substantially smooth, and the transmission screen should have a total haze (JIS K7136:2000) of 10 to 85%.

Transmission screen

A method for manufacturing a thin functional member having no base material, which exhibits a special function and is free from curling caused by the base material. The method includes the following steps (1) to (4): (1) filling a functional layer comprising an ionizing radiation curable resin between a base material and a mold having a predetermined concavo-convex pattern, (2) irradiating the filled functional layer with ionizing radiation to half-cure the functional layer, and then delaminating the functional layer and the base material from the mold, (3) adhering an adhesive sheet to a part of the functional layer, and delaminating the functional layer from the base material starting from a portion to which the adhesive sheet is adhered, and (4) irradiating the functional layer with ionizing radiation again to further cure the functional layer.

Method for producing a functional member having no base material

A method for producing surface convexes and concaves enabling easy and highly precise formation of desired convex and concave shapes using a photomask is provided. A mask member having light transmitting sections and non-light transmitting sections is disposed over one side of a photosensitive film consisting of a photosensitive resin composition with an interval with respect to the photosensitive film, light is irradiated from a light source disposed on the side of the mask member to subject the photosensitive film to light exposure through the light transmitting sections of the mask member, and exposed portions or unexposed portions of the photosensitive film are removed by development to produce convexes and concaves on the photosensitive film in shapes determined by shapes of the exposed portions or unexposed portions. In the light exposure, light exposure conditions such as distance L between the light source and the mask member, size D of the light source and optical distance T between the mask member and the photosensitive film are controlled so as to control the shapes of the exposed portions or unexposed portions.

A light control film having a refractive index n and an uneven, irregular surface pattern provides a reasonable level of light diffusion without a glare problem provided, for any cross-section perpendicular to the base plane of the film, the average of absolute values of slope &#x3b8;of a curve along the edge of the cross-section contoured by the rough surface pattern (profile curve) is at least 78-34 n degrees and no higher than 118-34 n degrees, or the average of absolute values of slope &#x3b8;of a profile curve to the length Lof a straight line defined by the intersection of the base plane and the cross-section satisfies the following formula (3) or (4) for substantially all cross-sections.&#x3b8;&#xf7;Lr&#xd7;n&#x2267;40&#x2003;&#x2003;(3)50&#x2266;&#x3b8;&#xd7;Lr&#xd7;n&#x2266;135&#x2003;&#x2003;(4)

Light control film

A light control film enabling improvement in front luminance, having appropriate light diffusing property and free from problems of interference pattern, glare etc. is provided. A light control filmhaving a rough surface as one surface and a substantially smooth surface as the other surface is constituted so that total light transmission of the film for lights entered from the smooth surface should be not more than 65%, total light transmission of the film for lights entered from the rough surface should be not less than 80%, as measured according to the measurement method defined in JIS K7361-1:1997, and a value obtained by subtracting the total light transmission for smooth surface incidence from the total light transmission for rough surface incidence should be not less than 30%.

A reflective screen which can reflect high contrast images even in a bright environment and can reflect images with superior image color reproducibility, in particular, images substantially free from color change of the images, even when the screen is observed from an oblique direction. The reflective screenuses a multilayer optical film consisting of at least two kinds of alternately laminated transparent dielectric thin films selectively reflecting lights of specific wavelength regions as a reflecting layer, and the reflecting layerhas a light reflecting property for light in the wavelength regions of blue, green, red, and 670 to 730 nm, and shows average reflectances for lights of the wavelength regions higher than the average reflectance for light in the visible wavelength region other than lights of the wavelength regions, respectively.

Reflective screen

The light control film provides improved front luminance and appropriate diffusion without the problems of interference pattern, glare. The light control film has a rough surface that, for substantially any arbitrary cross section perpendicular to a base plane of the film, has an average &#x3b8;of absolute values of slope, with respect to the base plane of a curve along the edge of the cross section, which is not less than 20 degrees and not more than 75 degrees, and has an absolute value of skewness (JIS B0601:2001) of the profile curve of not more than 1.2.
