This electric power steering device is provided with a function for: notifying a parking assistance device of a statically-steerable upper limit number obtained from an estimated motor current when static steering is performed in turnabout and a current limit value for the purpose of overheat protection of an electric power steering; and notifying the parking assistance device of whether the electric power steering can perform steering according to a target steering angle command, from a target steering angle and a target vehicle speed from the start of parking to the completion thereof, thus preventing interruption due to overheat of the electric power steering during parking assistance.

Provided is an electric power steering device including a phase compensation unit having a desirable phase compensation characteristic for each vehicle speed region, which suppresses deterioration in stability of a steering system in a case where the phase compensation characteristic is changed to a different phase compensation characteristic, in which the phase compensation unit includes: a plurality of phase compensation calculation units configured to execute phase compensation calculation based on each phase compensation characteristic; a phase compensation characteristic determination unit configured to determine a phase compensation characteristic based on a vehicle speed signal output from a vehicle speed sensor; and a selection unit configured to select a phase-compensated torque signal output by the phase compensation unit from phase compensation calculation results output by the plurality of phase compensation calculation units in consideration of an amount of change in phase compensation calculation result at a time of switching the phase compensation characteristic.

Electric power steering device and control method therefor

In a steering control device, a road surface reaction force torque calculation module () uses a vehicle speed, steering angle, and vehicle model to calculate a caster-trail-caused torque, a self-aligning torque, and a road surface reaction force torque. A reaction force command current calculation module () uses the road surface reaction force torque and the vehicle speed to calculate a reaction force command current.

An objective is to detect a resolver malfunction without fail, using a low-cost resolver having the small number of the poles, and a control-motor system having advantage in small sizing and high-power outputting. In the control-motor system, the system for driving a 2m-pole motor based on a rotor rotation angle &#x3b8; detected by a 2n-pole resolver, where m and n being counting numbers, is characterized in that: the sum of the square of a signal modulated by sin &#x3b8; and the square of a signal modulated by cos &#x3b8; in the resolver in which an excitation signal generated in said system is modulated by sin &#x3b8; and cos &#x3b8; in response to the rotor rotation angle &#x3b8; of the resolver is compared to a predetermined malfunction threshold value, so that malfunction determination related to the resolver is performed, and also, given that the sum is awhen the resolver is recognized to be in normal operation, the malfunction determination threshold value is made to be not smaller than {a&#xd7;cos((&#x3c0;/2)/(m/n))}.

Control-motor system

A semiconductor device includes: an insulation layer; a fuse layer extending on the insulation layer in one direction and disconnected through light radiation to control a redundant circuit; a pseudo fuse layer on the insulation layer along at least one side of the fuse layer; another insulation layer covering the fuse layer and the pseudo fuse layer; and a protection film formed on another insulation layer and having an opening in a region opposite to the fuse layer. Fuse layers having a spacing of less than 4 &mgr;m or 4.5 to 5.5 &mgr;m. Such a structure allows a semiconductor device with a fuse layer capable of being disconnected reliably and providing a smaller blow trace.

A low-cost torque detection apparatus is obtained using wheel revolution sensors which are generally provided in a conventional ABS and an engine revolution sensor which is generally provided in a conventional engine fuel jet controller. The apparatus can be used, for example, in a vehicle having a drive source, such as an engine or a motor, for driving wheels which is coupled to the right and left wheels by respective shafts having torsional stiffness for transmitting a drive torque through a differential gear. The apparatus includes a drive source revolution angle detection device for the drive source and wheel revolution angle detection means for the right and left wheels, and calculates torques of shafts such as drive shafts for coupling the differential gear to the wheels using a torque calculator.

A torsion torque detecting device includes a power unit rotation velocity detector for detecting a rotation velocity of a power unit for driving a vehicle, a power unit rotation acceleration calculator for calculating a rotation acceleration of the power unit based on the rotation velocity of the power unit, a power unit output torque calculator for calculating an output torque of the power unit based on operational parameters of the power unit, and a torsion torque calculator for calculating torsion torques of wheel drive shafts for driving wheels based on the rotation acceleration of the power unit and the output torque of the power unit.
